Spectacular Introduction to Motown
This is a spectacular collection of songs from leading Motown artists and deserves to become part of anyone's music collection. The beauty of these two volumes is that they provide a sample of songs which would lead you explore whole albums of the respective artists. These volumes should appeal to both seasoned Motown veterans and newcomers alike but for different reason. For veterans, there may be "newer" artists with whom you are unfamiliar (e.g., Michael McDonald, Boyz II Men, Dazz Band, etc.), and these open an avenue to new enjoyment. For newcomers, especially those born long after the late 1960s, you are in for a treat with classical Motown hits from the Temptations, Four Tops, Supremes, and Smokey Robinson, just to name a few. Get both volumes for your listening pleasure.

Has a review really ever changed your mind?
Posting reviews for others (RE: Amazon) to make money off of sucks. They expect my pithy retorts to make others plop down their hard earned $$$$ and give me nothing in return for my time spent writing ---- well, almost nothing --- You give me your thumbs up saying "Yeah, Your opinion matters". I feel so warm and fuzzy inside now knowing that You've clicked your approval at me.If you like the artist, just buy the album.... who ever bothers reading these dumb self-promoting, badly spelled, and grammatically incorrect reviews anyway? (Unless maybe it's to groan at how bad our English has become with the younger crowd.)It's music. Either you like, love it, or hate it. My tastes aren't your tastes... and if you're really here trying to decide whether spending $5 to buy songs you already know by heart anyway... then you're simply wasting your time. Just buy it and enjoy what you've gained.SImple as that.

25 years of classics.
Bought this as a gift, but it came with the digital copy for myself. I knew every word for the first 5 songs or so, and then thought "There is no way I know any more Motown songs." Sure enough, the next 15 in succession were all classics that I remembered every word to from the oldies station when I was a kid.

i grew up to this music
it's a big deal to me to be able to just find it again. i couldn't keep it with me physically as i developed through my life, and i am appreciative of amazon for making it available. i was dubious of the cloud until my classic ipod finally died and i realized with the cloud i didn't need to keep it all with me all the time. and this is cheap for the preciousness of both the music and my memories.

Flashback Music
Love, love, love this CD! A great compilation of Midtown hits that sparks your memories of times past. Great listening music for Saturday and Sunday relaxation. You can't help yourself from singing along to every tune; you may even be inclined to dance along too!

My students Love it!
I teach art to over 700 kids a week and they LOVE this cd. I downloaded it to my pc to play during class while they work. OUr 5th graders performed some of the songs during the Black history program and now all the students are hooked. Plus there are no ugly words in the songs to get me in trouble.

Oldies But Goodies
Oh this really brought back memories. Excellent music and so many favorites are on this one CD. I like it so well, I have saved it on my laptop, my pc at work and my Kindle Fire. I can listen to it every where I go! If you like oldies and goodies, Motown is the CD for you.

Excellente compile

Motown No.1s Various
Review by John Bush [-]Owner of one of the deepest catalogs in music history, Motown/Universal allows very few recordings to escape the clutches of its archive. Once they're available, however, they're repackaged in endless permutations; such it was when Motown was ten years old, and such it was as the company approached its 45th anniversary. Motown 1*s, a collection of 24 number one hits enjoyed by the label, ranges through four decades for its material -- from "Please Mr. Postman" by the Marvelettes to "I'll Make Love to You" by Boyz II Men -- and provides the very broadest of hits anthologies. It is an excellent selection, perhaps skimping on Stevie Wonder and Smokey Robinson, but never spending too much time with any one artist (which allows the disc to survey Junior Walker as well as latter-day artists Thelma Houston, the Commodores, and DeBarge). Motown 1*s is presented in chronological order, with a baker's dozen of tracks from the '60s, and 11 from the '70s or later. Unnecessary for soul fans much less collectors, Motown 1*s works best for its intended audience -- those with no prior experience who wish to understand why the Motown conglomeration of singers, songwriters, musicians, and executives comprised the premier pop music organization of all time. [The bonus track, a cover of "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" by Michael McDonald, is a fine reminder of how far the label's influence has carried.]
