Scary Stories Box Set: Complete Collection with Brett Helquist Art Paperback – Illustrated, September 27, 2011

Loved these stories and illustrations growing up. Scared me then, scares me now. All original illustrations included with stories. Definitely going to be fun to pass this along to the next generations! Campfire / sleepover / weird kid favorite.

My favorite series of spooky stories when I was a kid.I love that these books contain the original illustrations. I used to read this books over and over again as a child and was captivated by the eerie art inside.If you haven't seen these before, the books feature short, scary stories (think ghosts, monsters, and paranormal creatures) and whimsical yet haunting art to accompany them.Spooky, yes. But nothing inappropriate for a child so long as they are willing to be a little scared and are looking for that sort of thrill.I read these when I was in elementary school and think of these stories fondly.Purchased this trio of books for my nephew for Christmas. He loves scary things, so I hope he'll love these as much as I did!

I have good memories of reading these scary stories from my childhood, and this hardcover book does not disappoint. The artwork is original, and I love that all three books are in one book that looks great on my bookshelf. The stories are just as scary as I remember them, too, and now I can pass it on to a new generation!

Been scaring my Daughter and Wife ever since it mysteriously showed up in in her bookcase as the HAUNTED BOOK!!! She(6) still doesn't know how it got there!!!!! Highly recommended!!!

Second to the Bible these are the best books in existence. My love for horror started here. I reread these books even as a child and they have shaped my mind into the contraption it is today.

The box for this is very weak and came bent a bit at the bottom. The cover print is off-center on one of the books; just cheap. ‘Soon to be a motion picture’ print on book covers is just ugly and tacky but doesn’t change the function of course. No text is off in the books that I’ve seen which is nice! Buy it on sale if you can!

I told these stories to my kids around the campfire starting in the 80’s and they loved these stories. My parents took me, I took my kids, and now It's my grown kids and their kids! This year they really wanted THESE stories around the fire. This year they were determined to have THESE stories. There’s nothing better than the kids snuggled up with you after these “bedtime stories”. They’re grown all too soon and the memories are priceless. I did download the audible version on the app, but there are no titles on the chapters. I’d have to listen to the whole audiobook to tell the favorites, and I chose FUN WITH THE FAM rather than hide away listening alone all day so it wasn’t spoiled for that nights fire. Let’s face it. Nothing beats a real book. Having the original to choose what to tell means everything! There is a new version using a different illustrator. The reviews weren’t great. I’d ordered this set hoping to get it in time for our 4th of July camp since I didn’t order in time for our June camp. There was never any shortage of stories, but THIS is the one they want to hear. They’d wanted these stories last year, but I didn’t know if the campground would even be open. I just ordered too late. I wanted to make SURE I got the right edition...and not only is this it, it’s the complete set! I’m thrilled, and so are my kids! These stories are just scary enough to make them exciting without having the kids afraid to ever go camping again. Of course I embellish a bit to make the setting similar to where we are camped and tweak the characters a bit, include respect for the plants and animals whose homes we are visiting and toss in a bit of common sense and safety. These stories are great, they have the kids on the edge of their seats! My son know when to slip away into the woods and snap a twig, or pop out a glow stick to move slowly at just the right time. (Except for the time where coming face to face with a skunk turned that scary moment around on him 😂) I guess I’ll just have to plan another camp this month! In these times getting away from the news, and all the doom and gloom, reminded just how precious life really is, and seeing faces illuminated by a campfire instead of a cell phone really is priceless. This is the set you want, even if you’re only camping in the backyard. I bought the original from a scholastic book order, so they aren’t meant for adults, they’re for kids, but how you tweak them when you tell them...that’s up to you!

Deeply nostalgic for millennials. I enjoyed both reading these stories to my child and him being able to read them on his own.He struggles with reading, but these are easy short stories that are suspenseful enough to hold his attention.It was easy to have conversations about the critical reading and analysis of these short stories.

El protector plateado venía mal doblado pero el libro está en perfecto estado. Las ilustraciones y las historias son bastante buenas para niños o personas que están empezando a aprender inglés. Sin el protector el libro es completamente negro lo cual me gusta muchísimo.

The stories in the books are very dumb. None of them last more than 2 or 3 pages and are not scary at all. This book only suits small kids and trust me they might not get scared also. I returned the books the day I recieved. The books are too stupid to read. Don't buy them. The movie which was made inspired by these books is good. You can watch it as the substitute.

The package was not damaged. The books were in great conditions, both the exterior and the interior.

The format I bought is a hardcover volume which contained all 3 books. I confess it's not as thick as I thought it would be considering there's supposed to be 3 books in this but the overall quality is superb. The pages are made with good quality paper and the bindings are well-fixed.My package only contained this one book which I think worked out for the best. The cardboard amazon box that it came with was fitted to contain just this one book and I'm glad it did because neither the book nor the dust jacket was damaged during shipping.Overall, I'm super happy with this purchase and delivery. 5/5 stars.
