Good book, good stories
Best way to encourage kids to read is to have them immersed!

Nice concept endings are lacking
My 4 y/o loves the Choose Your Own Adventure books and what a great concept to gear them towards a younger audience! The positives of this book are:easy vocabularyvery child friendly and not scary at allgiving the child control of the storycan breeze through all 12 endings fairly quickly without a ton of redundancyNegatives:grammatical structure sometimes seems awkwardendings are weak and unexcitingno educational incorporation as in the older child series of CYOAI really wish Montgomery would have taken the same style as in "The Abominable Snowman", "Journey Under the Sea", etc and added some educational value to the books and stronger, more incorporated endings... however, these are great for the 3 year old range and a bit beyond.

I was a fan of these books when I was young and I now share them with my son.
I used to borrow these books from the library when I was in middle school and I thought it was a good time to share them with my son as well. I think I enjoyed them more than he did, but he still found it interesting and read the multiple times to get different routes.

Not as scary as I thought. Perfect for my five year old
I love this series for my five year old. I first got into this series with an obviously non scary book about a missing dog. I was a little leery of this title as my kid is super scared of a lot of things. It turns out that the endings are nothing creepy like I remember with the choose your own adventure books from my youth (those were aimed at an older audience and this series targets the 6-8 year old crowd). These books are so much fun.

My 8 year Old Hates Reading
I bought this book for my 8 year old in my ever persistent quest to get him to read more. It worked! He has read and reread this book so much I believe he has found his way through to at least 12 endings. He has already asked for another one, which to me is a win.The reading level is probably for 6-8 year olds, but if you have a strong reader they may get bored with the dragonlark series. For my reluctant reader however, it gave him the confidence he needed to tackle a longer book. The endings are kinda cheesy but my son likes them. Also there are times when he's reading to me that I have to check that he went to the right page because the story seems a little disjointed, the story line doesn't bother my son though. All in all, anything that gets my kid to read is a win in my book, and I have already ordered more from this series.

Never the same story twice...great for young readers
These are similar to the Twist-a-Plot books series. Our family loves anything haunted house/halloween themed so this book was right up our alley. I have an 8 year old and an 11 year old that both enjoy these books. Our 5 year old, although he can't read the books, loves to get in on choosing different endings. They can't wait to get to the bottom of a page to decide what to do next. As soon as they finish one senario, they immediately start over, making different choices to see how the story changes.Great books, easy read

Just ok, not like when I was a kid
My husband and i were both fans of choose your own adventure books as a kid so we were excited for our kid to get of age to understand and appreciate them. However we found the various story options are a little haphazard, often choppy and incomplete, it leaves my 7 year old confused because the story will progress in a normal gradual way then suddenly end, and often the ending is odd. I get they want to make it simple for the younger reader but its a little too simple. He still likes it but unfortunately it's not one of his favorites. But still a great option to start kids on these types of books.
