Good instructive book and it comes with a DVD, too! Good price, too!

There are lessons that allow more experienced painters to learn new techniques and excellent lessons for beginners. Even without the CD this is well written and insightful.

This book has all the basics, and the reason I chosed this book is because I started to take classes in addition to my school with a great local artist but as soon I started a new semester and work I haven't been able to take more watercolor classes and this book clearly shows the same steps that my teacher was teaching me. I knew this was the right book for me to keep practicing at home. I already used one of the techniques that the book shows for a proyect at my university and I got "excellent" ckeck mark on my critique. In addition this book brings a CD. A must have!

I found Birgit O'Connor's book to be one of my all time favorites in a long time. Directions/Ideas are precise and very clear. She covered a great deal of information and included many lessons, exercises and demonstrations to try. Whether you're a beginner or advanced watercolorist you'll find this book and DVD to be a useful reference tool to return to time and again. I'm looking forward to buying more books by this artist (would love to take some classes instructed by her too).

Very fast ship but dvd was used, i bought used as rated good. Book is great but as another reviewer stated you can not open completely without hearing tearing in the spine. Dvd has a bunch of small scratches, not mentioned. I wrote vendor but no response. Out of 9 items purchased, from amazon , it arrived third. My dh will polish dvd but in all honesty it plays the first half and is really quite boring. Best for a complete beginner but the book is very good. The spine issue has nothing to do with vendor,but the publishers fault! I would buy again but ask questions first.

Birgit O'Connor is the guru of Watercolor Painting. She is an excellent teacher and understands the needs of the self taught students as well as those who have instruction. The text allows for step by step instruction so that students can work on their own between classes. In additon the DVD provides many lessons and helpful hints as well as Brigit's unique brand of motivation. I am a Watercolor Instrutor at a Community College and this will be our textbook for the coming summer course. I highly recommend Birgit's teaching methods.

I bought this for my wife for Christmas at her request, as she had checked this book out at the library before. She loves it, and is amazed at the way Birgit carefully walks you through several techniques that explain how to master the art of watercolor. This lady is an amazing painter, and learned on her own, so her techniques are easy to understand for someone just learning.

Because the chapter images had beautifully painted flowers, I thought I would learn to paint them, however there is only two demonstrations at the end of the book that show anything to do with those large flowers. It's basically a book of techniques with lessons on what tools and brushes you can work with.

Este fue mi primer libro de acuarela. La verdad me abrió los ojos en cuanto al uso de las técnicas sobre todo por el dvd que trae. No hay como ver en acción la ejecución de la técnica.

Great techniques to try in watercolor painting, with the help of a full lenght DVD! Enjoy Birgit O'Conner's use of bold colors and art work. WoW!

I found this an excellent primer in w/c techniques, & in developing your paintings.The author inspires confidence,but avoids the fault of so many other books which assume a detailed approach to drawing & then 'colouring in'.These latter so often either frighten with too complex subjects or stick at a crude 'amateur' level which fail to set an artistic standard to aim at.This one starts you & keeps you 'loosened up' from the start.I was about to get the author's follow-on book 'Watercolor in Motion' but managed to see a copy & found it was 99% flower painting. A shame!

The techniques and exercises are clearly explained and illustrated, both in the book and on the DVD. As a point of interest, the artist is American so speaks with an accent on the video. My version was from a used book sale but seems to be brand new - the seal on the video hadn't been broken - so I feel I have had a bargain!
