Great reference book for any water color painter
I had the opportunity to borrow a copy this book from my painting instructor before I purchased it from Amazon, and found that it exceeded my expectations, so I decided to purchase it. The content is very good for the beginner to intermediate water color painter. The projects for practice are very detailed and include step by step instruction. This will make a great addition to my reference library. I purchased the book used, and received it promptly and in very good condition.

Great book for those new to watercolor
I purchased this book after reading three of Bellamy's books on watercolor painting. I am new to watercolor and this author does a great job of explaining the various techniques involved and equipment required. The photographs are clear and his step by step descriptions are thorough. His hue recommendations are very helpful to the beginning painter - color selection and mixing can be intimidating when you are just starting out. He also emphasizes the importance of sketching as a preliminary step to painting which I find very helpful. This book is a great reference for the beginning and intermediate watercolorist.

Watercolor Painting Basics
As a beginner in the field of watercolor painting, I needed to have a book that covered the basics. This book more than does this; it provides lots of example paintings that you can use to replicate or learn a specific technique or process as described by the author. The basics are covered - the color wheel, applying a wash, wet-on-wet, negative painting, paint removal, and so on. It also is divided into sections based on the type of painting being discussed; landscapes, still lifes, portraits, seascapes. In each section are specific techniques or "how-to's" that go a long ways towards providing the reader with a wealth of information they can then use in their painting. I've found this to be a wonderful, extremely useful, and understandable guide to watercolor painting.

Best Ever
Because of where we live I cannot go to paint classes or extension courses, so I buy books here to help my painting. This is the best ever! Right out of the box Bellamy had clear instructions that made sense, helped, explained, and I have seen improvements. It is worth every penny and I am so glad I chose this for using my Amazon gift card.

Wonderful, well done
Clear insisted up instructions and supply lists. Really great for learning. He lays out each lesson with precision and forethought. Really great. The places he goes to paint make me wish for greatness so I too can travel with a purpose.

THINKING WATERCOLOUR-START HERE.
What a great resource book and exponent to follow into the world of watercolour. Bellamy is world-renouned artist whose atmospheric painting style suits me perfectly. Google up some examples of his works and there's a fair chance you'll be hooked on his style.Barry from Downunder

Wonderful book
This is a really wonderful book with professional, in depth guidance to paint a very wide variety of subjects - everything you could want. There is so much easy to read guidance for techniques and use of colour. The step by step projects are challenging but all the information you need to complete them is in the book. I am a beginner in watercolour, but do have some artistic experience and I think you would need that too to try the projects. His chosen paintings are so beautiful it makes you want to try. His use of colour is a huge inspiration. Such a beautiful book, I'm so glad I bought it.
