Excellent optical quality in a low cost package.
I am always a little reticent to buy a 3rd party lens for any camera. I have a Sony A7RIV and A7RIIi and needed a wide angle lens. The Sony equivalents are very expensive for the use I will get out of this focal length range so I had just made do with what I had (my widest angle lens went to 24 mm at the time). However the reviews on the lens indicated excellent optical quality but not as good a build quality as the equivalent Sony lenses and at a price that was excellent (<£1000, <$1000).So here is my summary:Pros:1. Optical quality is indeed excellent. All issues can easily be corrected in Lightroom or Photoshop but are not really readily apparent when viewing the large picture sizes you can achieve with the Sony A7RIV.2. Light weight.3. Very competitive pricing.4. Nice feeling Zoom and focus rings.Negatives:1. Build quality not as good as the Sony lens (but it is half the price).2. Not fully weather sealed just dust and moisture resistant.3. Stiff when mounting on the camera (I thought it was broken at first, but with a little persistence it will fit correctly but not in the same positive way as the Sony lenses).4. Requires IBIS for stabilization. This is not really a problem as stabilization is not often required for a wide angle lens.5. No manual focus switch although you can simply grab the focus ring and manually focus the lens.6. Zoom ring dominates the lens, making trying to find the focus ring blind (while eye is still at the viewfinder) difficult or inconvenient.Summary:1. Not a full time professional lens.2. Suitable for intermittent use in controlled environments (given the wide angles are often used indoors, this may not be a serious problem).3. An excellent compromise for the photographer who needs an excellent quality wide angle lens in their Sony bag.4. Very good value for money.

The best wide angle lens for SONY
Was looking for a wide angle lens for my SONY, this lens is fantastic, it's incredible sharp and the outofocus is on pair with the GM series. You won't be disappointed for sure !

Outstanding lens, great value for money.
Nothing new to say about this lens it's all been well documented before now. It's a superb beautifully sharp lens with a fantastic viewing angle. The fact that it integrates so perfectly with the Sony system is just the icing on the cake.Partners perfectly with the Tamron 28-75mm.

Sharp with very little distortion
A cracking little lens for Landscape images. For 25 years I shot with Canon cameras and various lenses ( mainly primes ). I supply stock agencies and that entails a lot of post process work including the keywording and image tidy up including sharpening and levels etc. Canon havn't really seemed to of moved on with their cameras for the past 5 years, so I took the plunge and moved to Sony cameras. After 6 months of research I bought a Sony A7RIII and this lens. I am blown away by the sharpness and tonal range of this combination. My workflow time has almost halved as a consequence which is a major benefit too. As an example, the image of the lighthouse and a storm was a single shot, only the levels were adjusted for certain parts of the image. There is very little in the way of wide-angle distortion and barely noticeable Chromatic Aberration. In conclusion, if you are a landscaper and you have a Sony A7RIII there is negligible image difference between this lens and a Sony G Master and at nearly a third of the price, whats not to like ?

Excellent value for money Lens
Extremely high quality lens considering the price versus Sony’s own equivalent, very happy with the overall performance, image quality and weight.

Tamron 17 28 f2.8 - Scharf, kompakt, leicht. Super Objektiv!!
