This was such a fun read. At times poignant as Howie Mandell walks you through his life and his perspective on his various issues. I felt sad for him at times and many others I was truly laughing out loud - which he would have loved since often this was sitting alone in the middle of a restaurant. Awkward is his stock in trade and certainly felt that at times. This is not a joke book, but it is very funny. This is not a how to handle OCD, ADHD, etc book - but he does tackle these from his point of view.If you enjoy watching Howie, you will enjoy this read. It is as if he were sitting on a talk show couch and someone is transcribing his words. Feels like a conversation that he has invited us to join.

Fantastic read
I have to say, this is an amazingly powerful book. I suffer from OCD myself, and it seems that all these self-help books just don't get it. This isn't in any way a self-help book, but for those needing to know someone out there gets it, he does. It's so isolating and depressing to have to deal with, and the fear is unbearable. Howie talks about his battle, and I have to admit, it really hit home. I realized someone gets it., someone gets my struggle and my fears. I wish we could've delved a bit deeper into that side, but honestly, I'm not surprised it didn't. He talks about his debilitating ADHD, which I'm sure was part of why the book didn't delve deeper. I'm sure it was hard enough talking about his struggles and life, but that being said, it's still a fantastic read. I laughed pretty hard at parts (won't spoil those for those who've not read it yet,) but I will say I may have gotten a few looks reading it in the breakroom at work. Don't hesitate to read this. You really won't regret it.

Funny, But Not What You Expect
First off, I'm not real big on nonfiction. I don't hate it but it's just not my normal "cup of tea". This was drawn for my bookclub though, so I read it.And it was funny. Sometimes a little too much info (the incident with his daughter and the drainage ditch, his father's death), but entertaining none-the-less. But if you are thinking you are going to get a lot of details about OCD, you will be disappointed. He talks about it, but it really does deal mostly with his rise to fame, in spite of having OCD.I feel sorry for his wife, she's either going for sainthood or just loves torture, you decide. And friendships...? I don't think he ever does anything maliciously, he just can't seem to grasp that sometimes a joke to one, hurts another, so I feel for all of those close to him.It was touching to read about his relationship with his parents, especially his Dad. How they always showed nothing but love and support regardless of what he did, and have always been proud of him, even when he was laying on floors and drawing on himself to "measure" carpet. An entertaining read, but not a lot of depth and not a lot of advice of how to cope with OCD, for those interested in that aspect of him and his career. And even though I didn't really want to read it, would have never chosen it on my own, I did enjoy it. But read it for the laughs, not the OCD.

Here's the Deal: Don't Touch Me
"Here's the Deal: Don't Touch Me" is Howie Mandel's enlightening, humorous, and at times bland narrative of his life as a comedian and his struggles with his mental and physical health. It isn't a secret that Canadian-born entertainer Howie Mandel struggles with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD). In "Here's the Deal: Don't Touch Me" he recounts the origin of the disorder- his childhood- and describes the shocking reality of life with OCD and adult ADHD. The beginning of this book captured my attention, however the rest wasn't quite so compelling. It has little structure, alternating randomly between lighthearted stories of Mandel's life and stories of intense personal problems. Disappointingly, the humor was often painfully candid, tasteless, and vulgar, dealing primarily with bodily functions, practical jokes, public humiliations, and attention seeking stunts that left me uncomfortable. Consequently, it is hard to feel a connection with Mandel, moreover I was deterred by his juvenile and crass attitude. His struggle with OCD was fascinating; his cruel jokes and stories were not. As a piece of writing it is a wreck, and Mandel only managed to partially save it with humor.

L M A O and L O L!
I have been a fan of Howie Mandel for a long time. This book was such a great insight into his life, how he got to where he is and a little bit about what makes him tick.He really opens up and shares a lot of personal details which explain how life with this OCD can be challenging. How he has coped with it in his comedy. A lot of his type of humor, (practical joker), was shown and great pictures of the past and his family.Throughout this whole book I was literally laughing out loud and a couple of times had to put it down because I was laughing so hard I had tears in my eyes.I read this book in a day and a half. It is one of those you don't want to put down.....

Laughed till I cried
I would recommend this book to anyone with OCD, ADHD and all other D’s.I was having issues with “D”pression. This book made me laugh so hard I cried. Great book for raising the serotonin level.I could identify with so many of Mr. Mandel’s feelings.I would absolutely recommend this book to everyone. I had to keep reading through the end without stopping.

Absolutely LOVED this book
I thoroughly enjoyed ... no no, loved ... this book! The entire time, and for several days after finishing (I say several because I was on a New Years cruise to the Caribbean) shared some stories and snippets from this book to family and friends. I've read several books that were told to be 'funny,' however, none produced -- ESPECIALLY to the level this one did.Howie shares some information and stories from his path from being a child to very recent times of his obstacles he has to face, and most of them, at his misfortune, provide many laughs to others around him and to those reading the book.It was a very easy read, and a VERY enjoyable one as well. I hope Howie writes more in the future, his style and edge is wonderful.FIST BUMP!

Enjoyable
I was very curious about Howie Mandel after - very belatedly - discovering he has OCD and other problems. The book is clearly written and he's able to laugh at himself but also be serious from time to time. I enjoyed it.

This book is so me
I started reading it that same day when I got it. I can relate to him when he had dealt with certain issues except I am not really a germophobe or OCD. The book is so interesting and there have been times I have been laughing out loud to what I am reading. And I can relate to what he has go through and still going through. I am ADHD. I am the impulsive and inattentive kind. Just love this book. I love anything about ADD/ADHD. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who is a Howie Mandel fan or not.

Not worth it
This book is a running commentary of Howie pulling pranks. In detail. They are often cruel, not funny. If you want to know anything about Howie's private life as an adult....forget it. All you will find out about are pranks. I like Howie a lot, but I am pi&@ed off I paid so much for this boring book.

A serious look at a funny guy.
Curious about the real life of Mr. Deal or No Deal then look no further than this no holds barred book. Mandel opens up about his early life in Toronto, his upbringing and his battle with ADHD and OCD. Mandel triumphs despite his setbacks and provides hope to others. This is a very humane book that exceeds expectations. Well worth your time.
