JBL GTO609C 270 Watts 6-1/2" Premium Car Audio Component Stereo Speaker System with Patented Plus One Woofer-Cone Technology

I have tried a lot of speakers over the decades and these are up near the top of all the ones I've had. One thing that impressed me was the midbass on these exceeds everything I've had before. I have them crossed over with HPF at 80hz and driving them with a JL Audio 300/40 giving them 75w rms of clean power. They sound great and musical around the 30-40w range. I'd have to turn down the midbass a bit or increase the HPF to 120hz to push them harder as they will loose linearity with all the midbass at high wattage.I did a layer of sound deadening on the outer door skin (inside the door), and a second layer under the door card covering every hole that opens into the insides of the door and window regulator area. Then I added a foam mid-bass reverb pad behind the speaker, and finally the foam seal around the speaker itself to direct all the mid-bass into the cap through the door card. I believe this helped significantly in increasing the mid-bass and overall sound quality.

Bought these JBL speakers to replace my more expensive speakers before selling my car. These sounded absolutely amazing in my Volkswagen on the stock stereo, I was shocked by the quality at this price point.

They give an excellent sound, advice calibrate the amplifier well, if you turn up the gain too much it will distort.

First one came with a faulty tweeter, messaged them and they shipped new one within same hour, had to return old one but was very easy to work with. Great speakers. Mids are good, tweeters are ehh, but what do you expect from a speaker that small? A concert hall?

I had written a previous review complaining about quality and distortion from speakers. Turns out the default gain on the new head unit I bought was set to max causing the distortion. These speakers turned out good. The tweeter is a little hot but overall very nice sounding after eq.

Impressive setup. Sounds good and looks good. Been using JBL speakers for a long time and it is a top choice for durability and longevity. Highly recommend.Replaced the door speakers in my 2019 Mercedes Sprinter and it is night and day even with stock head unit. Beware the door panel with this speaker installed is much heavier. Use the foam tape to avoid vibrations. The install kit is very useful and easy to figure out. Instructions are not very helpful. Use a 9V battery to test factory speaker to determine polarity. Pushes out with correct polarity when attached to a 9V.
