Let me save you some time.
This is the best surge protector there is. Get this one! You can research it if you like, but this is where the internet will point you. And you'll likely think it pricey, but if you have any sensitive musical or computer equipment, this protection is the best out there and it's actually cheaper than some other professional grade surge protectors. The ISOBAR is built of solid metal, I mean solid, so the box itself will last forever. This is a professional grade surge strip. Now there are some plastic trip-lite protectors meant for your TV stuff. They're cheaper and work fine, at least I've never had any problem. But I definitely want the ISOBAR for all my musical plugging in. I bought my first ISOBAR over 20 years ago, and it still works like a charm. I've bought 5 more since. I have a project recording studio that I use these in for pretty much everything I plug in there, and other than making the move to installing an overall surge protector at the studio's breaker box, in which if I did, I'd pop some big bucks for, these are all I will ever use. Now, as great as these are at protecting your equipment against the all too frequent and city common city power voltage surges, particularly in areas with hydroelectric power, all surge protectors have their limitations. While they protect against surges, most surge protectors don't deal with sudden drops of voltage. And I've been told by my amp guy, it's the drops that you should worry the most about. The ISOBAR is designed to recognize a sudden voltage drop and let the power latch down a bit slower to protect the equipment. Now there are some power conditioners out there, quite a bit more expensive to be sure, that are actually designed to deal specifically with sudden drops in voltage. Of course the main culprit here is city power going out altogether while you have your equipment running. And the best protection for that is a battery backup that will keep all your equipment running at a steady voltage level even without power. This is your best protection by all means. But the grade of battery backup you will need in a music project studio is going to cost you a big old wad of cash. And, you are going to have to run some power strips out of it anyway, so they might as well be ISOBARS. And one last disclaimer. Despite everything you do. There's one equipment killing culprit you just can't do anything about. And this one has gotten a few of my machines. Static electricity! In particular, the static caused by nearby lightning strikes. It travels through the air, so there's just no way to block it. But you can try to keep the studio as centrally located in your dwelling as possible and that will really help. One way or the other, you want some surge protection at the power source, and this is the surge protection strip you want.

BEST surge on the market anywhere near this price -- it is built to last & built to give stellar protection of your valuables!
This is the best surge protector on the market that is reasonably priced and readily accessible for home usage. The ISOBAR (and especially the ISOBAR ULTRA) have a STELLAR reputation. And there is good reason for this. Their surges are made of metal instead of plastic, the build-quality is fantastic, the cords, switches, and lights are all heavy-duty and built to last, the internal circuitry is state-of-the-art, the reliability is excellent (think multiple decades of service), and the ISOBAR consistently yields class-leading performance when independently tested in which it gives an incredible amount of protection to delicate electronics. If you look at the certifications and independent tests that have been conducted on ISOBAR, it quickly becomes apparent that ISOBAR is THE surge you want if you want the best protection around. These tests show that ISOBAR is really an investment to protect more expensive investments. So while it is certainly an expensive surge, but it is worth it. $50 or so on a surge becomes chump change compared to $5,000-$10,000+ for damage to electronics that a lesser surge failed to protect. With the ISOBAR, there are no surprises and zero questions on it's effectiveness: ISOBAR has, can, does, and will protect your electronic devices. Oh, and the product has a Lifetime Warranty, plus an insurance policy that will cover your losses if ISOBAR fails to protect the devices in a situation it should have done so in. So that is an added plus. So despite the higher purchase costs, this is THE surge you want if you want serious protection.

A truly premium solution
After a recent scare with our sketchy outlets, coupled with a mediocre power strip, I decided it was time for an upgrade. This is a top of the line unit, made by a brand known for its quality and reliability. I feel safer knowing my electronics are plugged into this thing. It sure is a BRICK, but that build quality is fantastic, and I'm sure this will last. 10/10, no notes. Never cheap out on surge protectors, folks.

Quiet, well design, solid construction.
This is the one you need. There's many YouTube videos showing the solid design and high quality components. I've seen some reviews claiming some buzzing. I own two of these (6 & 8) outlets and they are completely quiet. I can't assess them with a peak, so I can't comment on their performance.

Well built, impressive power strips with good protection.
Well built, impressive power strips with good protection. I wanted a step up from a normal power strip that offers a lot of outlets but no true protection. These were perfect. I bought two of them. Glad I did. Would buy again.

Functional and piece of mind
Seems solid. Using it in a high end audio system. No appreciable improvement in sound.

Peace of mind
This surge protecter has been awesome, I use it on a work bench where I have thousands of dollars of equipment plugged into it. It’s small so it doesn’t take up much room, and provides peace of mind due to the multiple power outages and flicker I get. This was the first time I’ve spent this much money on a surge protector but in my mind it’s worth it.

I purchased this excellent surge suppressor with a metal case as replacement, but later as the main addition to my hi fi audio system; stereo. I also have a lamp plugged in, too. I have an earlier surge protector for my turntable. The wonderful thing about the Tripp Lite Isobar Surge Suppressor is the design, and adequate spacing of the electrical outlets that you can plug in for a hi fi audio, or AV system. Normally the spacing on most surge protectors is very close, and crowded; and the insertion of a plug is difficult. Not so with Tripp Lite; there is adequate spacing, and industrial, quality outlets. The delivery of this fine, efficient Tripp Lite Isobar 6 outlet surge suppressor was fast. Furthermore, although I think the metal housing could be thicker, Tripp Lite Isobar the 6 outlet model (ISOBAR6ULTRA) white coloured is built like a tank. It is, and looks solid! Besides the important indicator lights, you get several cover plugs that can cover an outlet if it is not in use; I have now one not in use, and is covered. I have had this Tripp Lite Isobar 6 Outlet for over two weeks, and there is no low buzzing noise that I have heard so far; that is one of the main reasons I took to write, and post a review on Amazon, Canadian web site! There are a couple owner, users of Tripp Lite surge suppressor who observed, actually heard, and complained about such low level noise. However, as I listened to music on my hi fi audio system, there does not seem to be any such noise, faint or otherwise that can be heard. I am not saying that there is absolutely no such low noise coming from any such Tripp Lite surge suppressor products, but I have not heard any such extraneous, audible noise. I think that the manufacturer should seriously consider, and examine any perceivable noise from any of its Tripp Lite surge suppressor products because there are persons who connect such surge suppressors to a hi fi, or AV system. In conclusion, I believe that this Tripp Lite Ultra Diagnostic Isobar 6 outlet surge suppressor is a very good choice for a hi fi stereo, or AV system.

This surge protector is more basic than the ISOBAR ULTRAs, but from the same highly-regarded manufacturer. As a result, if offers similar protection and loss warranties to its bigger brothers. The form factor of the 2-6 is smaller, which can be a bonus in certain applications. The overall quality of the unit appears excellent -- Tripp Lite and Furman, both who offer metal bodied surge protectors, are the only units I buy after seeing first hand the heat generated by tripped surge protectors. Larger, more complex, units are available at higher cost. For this unit, you pay for what you get (surge protection, metal housing, and save on what you don't (indicator lights).
