The Beatles Encyclopedia: Everything Fab Four

Love anything by Ken Womack. I had the opportunity to meet him in London. He is a go to Beatle Expert. He was our walking tour guide in London on our Road Scholar Tour called The Beatles: From Strawberry Fields to Penny Lane. Delightful.

Not bad for a smaller edition of a much larger encyclopedia.

Lots of wrong info among the right

A GREAT BOOK ABOUT ALL THE SONGS.

This is a treasure trove of information for the casual and hardcore fan of the lads from Liverpool! What I love about Ken's books is that they have the look and feel of a textbook--meticulously researched, cited--but are conversational. A mind-blowing trait! I learned a lot thumbing through this and as I listen to The Beatles, this has become a welcome companion!

Materialreiche Übersicht mit rund 360 Einträgen von "Abbey Road" bis "Zapple Records". Leider beschränken sich die knapp und sachlich gehaltenen Artikel auf Songs, Alben und eine Reihe von Personen aus dem Beatles-Umfeld. Warum der "Cavern Club" einen Eintrag erhält, der "Star Club" in Hamburg aber nicht, bleibt das Geheimnis von Kenneth Womack. So fehlen nicht nur andere wichtige Orte (Ernst Merck Halle, Shea Stadium u. a.), sondern auch jene Musiker, die die Beatles massgeblich beeinflusst haben (Elvis Presley, Buddy Holly u. a.) Trotz der nicht zu unterschätzenden Fleißarbeit von Womack bietet seine "Enzyklopädie" nur wenig Neues.
