my first gaming mouse ever...
I'm 40+ years old and have been gaming since floppy disks, drilling/cutting holes in floppies to double the storage, and messing around with emm386. I never thought I would use a gaming mouse because I mostly suck at games...or merely, I just like to play games and just like to enjoy them...I don't obsess over them. That said, I purchased the Gamdias Erebos while perusing "coupon" based sales on Amazon. I stumbled upon the Erebos while it was on sale and had a coupon. I didn't know what I was purchasing as far as price to performance and quality goes.In any event, the initial experience wasn't positive, only in that a 2-3 day backorder ended up getting to me 2 weeks later. Needless to say, I was quite impressed with the packaging itself. A very well designed package with no extremely large size for the display box. The box comes with a glossy laminate or embossing of sorts of the Gamdias insignia all over it in a tiled fashion (it's the inverted triangle logo on the mouse). Seems to have gold trim around the box, though I wonder if this is the same for all the mice or specific coloring for each mouse.Small details aside, onto the mouse itself. Again, as someone who's never had a gaming mouse until now, bear in mind I'm a novice and don't really know what to expect but what I found was a very high quality mouse. Aside from this peripheral, my last recent peripheral purchase was the Microsoft Wedge Mouse, a fine product in its own right. The contents of the box are fairly minimal, mouse and the panels, stickers, and a very succinct manual (English, German, Spanish, Russian, Farsi, Japanese, Chinese and Korean). At first, I didn't know how to make use of the panels...then I figured there are flat side panels you remove first. I actually did realize the addition panels had magnets because they actually stuck to the magnets that are a part of the box. After fiddling around with the panels and not really knowing which panels benefit me, I'm a left handed person who oftentimes use my right hand to work the mouse at work, I moved on to check the weights. There are four 5 gram weights. I think I like using them all. Did I mention the cable is braided? Some people are not sure of braided cables for various cabling needs but I find for at least gaming, it lends durability to the item.On to plugging the Erebos in and having Windows 8.1 set it up as a plain mouse at the start. I then hopped on Gamdias.com to download the software, mainly because I wanted to customize the lighting. Lo and behold, the software is quite amazing, or at least it looks very polished. Software seems to be a portable format, so you download the zip, uncompress and use. On my initial firing of the software I was prompted to update the firmware of the Erebos, that went fine and without hitch as well. After that, I went on to reverse all the buttons minus the left/right because those were maintained as part of my basic mouse buttons (left/right switched for left handed use). The buttons were quite easy to program, and YES you can disable them, so there should be no negative remarks or review in this regard...that and besides which, I don't find it easy to accidently hit the side buttons. For the software, you can control the mouse speed, vertical scroll speed, d-click speed, dpi as well as further tweaking it in smaller increments, customize your colors and you're given 6 profile slots. I'm thinking the number of profiles varies with the mouse model and the given memory in the mouse model. You also can further tweak things going into advanced mode. Check the images as I have provided some screen grabs of both (I chose a solid color to do the grabs as the program is actually translucent and you can see your background through it).A good product in my eyes.

Best mouse I have ever owned
Best mouse I have ever owned. This mouse doesn't have a huge number of features but it is a great basic mouse for gaming or work. I have had this mouse for 1 year, no problems so far.Pros: The build quality is good. The buttons have a nice click to them. The customizable side panels are great for a left handed person. The center DPI button is useful. The scroll wheel feels solid. The mouse software worked on Windows 7 64bit. The cord is long and threaded. The rubber coating helps keep the mouse clean (most mice have a smooth plastic coating that I don't like). At 5 inches it's a good size for my hand.Cons: Can't change the color of the glowing light ( I spray painted over mine to give it a blue tint). The side buttons are too slim and feel shakey. It's not good if you need a mouse with more than just mouse1 mouse2 mouse3 buttons.

Some hiccups, but overall a solid mouse to adjust to your liking
Update - 12/09/2016I'd probably give this a solid 3 at this point. I've just not gotten to love the mouse - the few shortcomings I listed have eventually started to grate on me and my initial higher review. I'll keep this as a backup, but I probably would choose to fix my 518 if push-came-to-shove...In the meantime, I've changed over to another Logitech - the G402 Hyperion Fury, and I can tell already that I'll like that one long-term than what I can hope to get to with this one. I just couldn't find the right mouse pad to accommodate the feel of this mouse, even after changing weights multiple times, adjusting to different pieces on the sides of the mouse...sensitivities at all levels, whether in the OS, the mouse software itself or within games...I just couldn't get the feel I needed for some reason.----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Historical progression of mice:Pre-Gaming-Mice Era(aka the Dark Ages) - whatever mouse I could find that worked.Logitech Wingman Gaming Mouse (probably the best mouse-feel ever created by man)Logitech MX510Logitech MX518I needed a new mouse - this one was on drastic discount and has some adjustability with weight and side panels. I've disliked nearly every "ergonomic" mouse created since the MX510/518s because they don't fit my hand well. I have larger hands than normal, so the thumbs don't fit, the back-end is too short, or the sides are too narrow/short.This mouse fit all my needs...so, why a 4?1) Clicks are light - the buttons are pretty easy to depress...much more so than my Logitechs. It's taking some getting-used-to.2) The software was quite buggy on my clean install of Win7 64 Ultimate. Initially opening it the first time it hung/crashed. I force-closed out and retried...getting in it checked for updates/etc. Identified a firmware upgrade...ok, cool go ahead with that...firmware upgrade timed out and failed. Mouse disconnected and was no longer detected by OS(great, a bricked new mouse!). Luckily, I was able to restart(re-plug in my MX518) and walk through uninstalling HID-compliant drivers and a fresh reboot later by plugging into a different USB port it was re-recognized and basic drivers reinstalled for it. Back to working. Re-tried loading software...failed/crashed, again...re-tried, again...it loaded on second attempt, again...and reinitialized the firmware - this time it worked. Reboot. Everything shows up great. Load up software to configure profiles, and it gets exceptionally choppy. Still having my MX518 plugged in, it scrolls silky-smooth. Moving the Erebos, chops/struggles through until I exited the software, then returns to normal.3) I use the widest panel on my thumb(left) side, and the 2nd-widest on my pinky(right) side. I like the feel of having the wider base on the right side, with my big hands it gives me better grip as well as pressure control. The thumb side however, makes it a bit more difficult to use the side buttons if you have your thumb down at the base. With the MX510/518 it's just a matter of rolling up the nice smooth side to the button, with the Erebos there's a ledge from the side-panel which effectively protects the buttons from just rolling up a thumb click. I need to roll up, and then conscientiously press inward to the mouse body to effectively reach and click the buttons. In situations where I anticipate using them, I've just started to rest my thumb on that ledge rather than lower on the mouse body/panel. It's working, and to be honest isn't affecting my pointer accuracy or anything like I thought it would.Beyond that I think it's a pretty good mouse.Software, for me, is buggy...but, I don't anticipate I will use it beyond some basic starting points.Weight is good, could be better personally (I can add my own weight easy enough if push comes to shove)Clicks are light, but not exceptionally so. Still getting used to this.Without the panels, I would rate it a 3 - the base panel mouse would just be totally average to me.Scroll wheel is better than the MX510/518 - more distinctive.I like the braiding cover for the wire - it doesn't "stick" in my cord-management solution, but slides through it nicely.

Very good choice if priced under or around 2500
The mouse is honestly exceptional at this price point. I bought it for 1499 and trust me when I say this, the Logitech G102 or any other competitor at that price point doesn't beat the Hades M1. You get additional side panels to fit your liking, and if you're a left handed person like me, the mouse feels rather comfortable even though it's more fitted for the right-handed consumer. If you face any flickering issues, it's because you've plugged it's 2.4 GHz receiver in a USB 2.0 port. Plug it into a 3.0 port and the flickering issue should be solved. The battery life is pretty good too, it still had enough charge left after a week of heavy usage. The charging wire has a gold plated USB and it would have been the icing on the top if they made it braided, but still the wire quality is pretty good. You can use it either in wireless mode, or wired mode which charges the mouse up simultaneously. You even get additional weights in the bottom part to adjust the mouse's weight according to your liking. All in all, a very underrated gaming mouse. The only cons I came across is the software which definitely needs a revamp, and the RGB on it, even though it's much more radiant and customisable than most of the mouses I've seen, it's diffusion could have been better.

Looks weird but works wonderfully!
Awkward looking. But fits my small hands (men's SM/XS gloves!) in the optimum position perfectly, which is something like a slightly elevated palm grip. The best feature is that the wheel is further away from the palm, so that it doesn't force me to use a claw grip on that scroll wheel. I can still use a slight fingertip grip with this mouse.Mechanical/physical customization options are great to fine tune the fit. HERA software works great to further tune. There is a cheaper version of this mouse (which I also have), but I'd suggest getting this version as the included rubber inserts can make a difference in comfort. Recommended!

Great mouse so far
Great mouse so far. Love the color customization. Need to look into it more but would like a different rotating color pattern. DPI settings are way too high - need to customize them.
