Alex Art Sidewalk Mandala Sweet Stuff, Multicolor

This is a great way for children to be creative with their chalk drawings. The plastic stencil is in four sections, with each section having a larger stencil and additional smaller ones. All four sections are different. It can be used just the way it is OR you can do one section at a time and turn it to have all four quadrants match OR outline the mandala and move the stencil around and use whichever stencil shape you want. I like that it can be used in different ways so that creativity can be encouraged. The plastic is not heavy duty, so it does help if the kids use common sense when handling it. The chalk colors are ones that he kids like and they are bright. I would have given it 5 stars if the plastic was more sturdy.

It was ok for 15 min. It’s only 1 attached piece. My 7 yo granddaughter had fun, then lost interest in 10-15 min. My 5 yo granddaughter colored some then left in 5 min. It sits back in the box. Maybe another try in the near future. Didn’t feel it was worth the price. Should not be more than $10-12. That’s my opinion.

This was neat as a one-kid toy, but my kids didn't want to take turns so we figured out a way to make it a group thing - and our mandala was much better as a result. Each person selects a shape and chooses a way to color it - the shapes all need to be in different quadrants. Then, when everyone's done coloring their shape, turn the stencil a quarter turn and have everyone move with the stencil and repeat the same shape/color they did last time. Repeat four times and then see what you have created! When we did ours, we found that some of the shapes overlapped each other, but that made it look even better when we were done.

I gave this to my girl for her 10th birthday. She gave me a hug, a kiss and thanked me for it but I could tell she wasn't that interested in it. Later, she confessed to me she thought it was too babyish. A month passed and she still wasn't interested in it. Some on her friends (8-13 years old) came to our home while we were having a crawfish boil. They had played on the trampoline, croquet, ball, WiiU, and now they were bored. I pulled out the Mandala Sidewalk Stencil as a last resort to entertain them. Two girls (one of the girls, my girl) said no thanks and the other three kids said yeah. The majority won. When they finished with their original artwork on the driveway, my girl said that was "awesome". Now, that is a must do when friends are over.

Purchased for my 9 year old daughter's birthday. She loves drawing and outdoor chalk is no different. This is great because it allows her to do some stencils and add into designs she's already drawn or just do the enter mandala if she wants. The pieces did come apart easily but that didn't bother us...she can share it with her brothers, piece it together or just use the stencils all over the sidewalks anywhere. They have been easy for her to use and so far the individual pieces have held up well. I would totally buy this for another budding artist or another set for my daughter of a different mandala.

The product was folded in the package. It was difficult to lay it flat to trace.

This is a good set, and makes for a lot of creative fun. The only reason I did not give it five stars is because the stencil does not lay flat. The way it has to be folded in the box makes it bend. I'm hoping that laying it between heavy books will straighten it out, but if not I'll have to cut it into quarters. Still, I'm happy with it

Doesn't lay flat on the ground so hard to color the chalk in. Cheaply made. Definitely over priced. Wasn't impressed.

It comes folded in the box, and thus it holds that shape when unfolded. My kids get super frustrated with it because it won't sit flat.

I would rate 4.5 as they package the stencil with a plastic overwrap that causes it not to lie flat. I put the stencil open under a heavy mat near the heat register for a while and now it's much better.
