La Crosse Technology View LTV-W2 - Connected Wireless Wind Sensor

our son bought this for us for Xmas.2019, its now Feb.2020 and the wind gauge quit, so I took it apart and replaced the +power wire that had broke off the circuit board ( no idea why, no moving part there ). it works again. nice looking weather station. accuracy questionable. if want to have an idea of what its like out this will do. I bought this part in case it broke again.

This was a replacement item. Integrated perfectly to my system and is working very well.

order this item and when it was received it would not link in with the station. I worked with La Crosse, but they could not get to work. Tried three time and still could not get it to work. I order this item as new, but it was a rebuild. Now I am told it is too late to return so I am out the cost of this item. I will not buy a weather station from Amazon.

Updated rank and review:I bought the wind sensor as a replacement. The previous wind sensor's battery connections had rusted away. I purchased the same model number and verified it was compatible with my LaCrosse weather station display before purchase.When I got to installing the replacement wind sensor, it would not sync with my existing weather station. Tried to add the wind sensor several different ways, and it would not sync. Turned out that it's because they sent the wrong model wind sensor model, a W2 not a W1.It took me days and hours to figure out the problem.I contacted the seller via the amazon message center as a last ditch effort, but I had to realize that they sent me the wrong sensor. I had clearly purchased the W1 not the W2.The seller made it right, and I had the right sensor delivered within two days.The correct sensor synced in less that a minute.I'm giving this a 4 out of 5 because the company's FAQs points you to the app as a method to get your sensor to sync via your home WIFI. The app didn't work or help with the sync problem at all.

For a unit that's intended to be in the weather all the time it's not weather proof. The spinner on top will freeze up. The mother board inside is not coated or protected from moisture and the battery connections will rust. I suspect the replacement I just received will last about 2 to 3 years like the original. If you replace an original remember to delete the ID code from the first to add the replacement or it won't connect.

I difficulty getting it to connect to the display. I had to call the manufacturer.
