Mega Construx Game of Thrones Daenerys & Drogon

I am VERY impressed with this Black series set from Mega Construx. We finally binged all 8 seasons of Game of Thrones in just under 2 weeks and became huge fans. And when we're big fans of something, we start buying collectibles. I had previously purchased some other smaller Mega Construx sets based on the Call of Duty video game. I also purchased the Alien queen from Aliens. At the time, however, we hadn't watched Game of Thrones yet so I had no idea these GOT sets even existed! This is a huge set when completed and I'm really impressed with Mega's attention to detail. I also like that they incorporate cloth materials into their sets (Drogon's wings.) This is NOT an easy build by any means. Definitely for an experienced builder. But if you're patient and follow the instructions very carefully, you'll be rewarded with a truly awesome piece for your collection. Tons of articulation in Drogon's wings, legs, and tail make this easy to move in all kinds of different poses. The instructions are split into 2 books with each containing approximately 30 pages. The pieces come in 10 separate bags. Even the mini figure of Daenerys is impressive. The articulation of Mega's mini figures blows Lego's out of the water. I paid just over $40 for this set and, at that price, this is an absolute no-brainer. Don't even hesitate if you're a fan of construction sets OR Game of Thrones. This normally sells for close to $70 and even at that price, it's a great set. $40 makes it a must have. I will be purchasing more of Mega's "Black Series" sets in the future. This set made me a fan!

Awesome quality and enjoy to build it

I love this set. The dragon is great, It’s one of my favorite brick built things I’ve ever bought and it out does Lego by leaps and bounds. The wingspan is huge, the bricks are sturdy, It wasn’t hard to put together at all. I really do highly recommend this toy for any Game of Thrones fan or even dragon fan. The only complaint I have is that my Daenerys figure came with some pretty lackluster face printing that rubbed off with a single wipe of my finger. But she barely matters in the grand scheme of the set and I really only bought it for drogon.

Obviously I can not share the show of origin with my 8 year old son, however this is his favorite brick dragon by far! Goes great with all my old school castle sets. Mostly this can be played with without breaking, but there are tons of small 1x1 pieces which make up the armor plating and sometimes pop off - playable yes, but great as a model too and extremely poseable. Assembly was about average for a set with this many pieces. This thing is huge with the wings expanded - the scale to the figure seems perfect for a full grown Drogon!

The end result of this set is very satisfactory, as Drogon looks faithful to his actual on-screen incarnation despite many times buildable figures by Lego and Mega Bloks are far more abstract than he characters they portray; this one looks close enough that it doesn't have that "abstract" vibe to it. Drogon is also big....very big if you spread his wings out and pose him as if he were flying. I really enjoy the wing build on him, especially with the utilization of cloth vs. rubber-plastic, like the small buildable baby dragon version of Drogon by the same company. The paint job on the head is not as clean as I would have liked, but it is bearable and not exactly a con. However, in terms of building it, this set is definitely not for children and certainly not relaxing to build unless you're incredibly patient and take breaks...and even then, it was frustrating at times and far less fun than building with Lego. It took me about 5-6 hours to build primarily because the bag system does not work, and so you end up forced to spend a lot of time hunting down pieces off sometimes convoluted instructions considering you're basically forced to put all of the parts into one pile. That was my main issue, especially when after a while that many pieces kind of turned into a blob of same colored pieces to my eyes, at least. Some of the instructions show pieces that don't actually exist and are actually different pieces, which was a wee bit maddening when you're looking for parts that aren't even the actual thing and thinking there are missing pieces. Luckily for me, my set didn't have a lot of quality problems with parts coming together. I ended up starting building this set, then set it down for a few months before finally completing it since it became such a hassle to try and find parts and decipher instructions that weren't necessarily too clear. I had to go over the wing instructions twice. So, long story short....the end result is worth it, but whether or not you want to go through a tedious build versus a relaxing one really makes or breaks the set.

My son LOVED this for his 9th birthday and I didn't have to help hardly at all. There were missing pieces in 3 of the nags though. I had to make shift a couple pieces from leftover legos we had from other sets. But we made it work and it truly is an incredible piece! But..comes apart very easily so he can't really play with it. So I may need to take it apart and glue it all together. The wings are INSANE 🤩

Eines vorweg, da die Rezension vor mir nur einen Stern für die logistischen Probleme gibt. Auch ich habe vorbestellt und eigentlich sollte es knapp nach meinem Geburtstag vor einem Monat bei mir eintrudeln, aber wer Mega Construx möchte, muss sich oft in Geduld üben. Vieles erscheint hier erst gar nicht, daher bin ich über jedes Set froh, dass nun über Amazon doch den Weg nach Deutschland schafft. Natürlich war dies mehr als ärgerlich und ich kann den Frust auch nachvollziehen, aber so ist das nun mal leider bei Mega Construx und ich möchte hier das Produkt und nicht die Lieferung bewerten. Der Aufbau: Paket geöffnet, 10 nummerierte Tüten drin und zwei orangene Tüten und dazu zwei Bauanleitungen. Diese sind so dünn, warum hier nicht eine daraus gemacht wurde ist mir nicht ganz klar. Gemütlichen Bauern wie mir bietet das lediglich die Möglichkeit bei 50% genau eine Pause einzulegen. Die Bauanleitung ist, wie ich es von Mega Construx gewohnt bin, sehr gut und es kommen eigentlich keine Zweifel auf auf welche Noppe welche Stein gehört. Wenn ich jetzt etwas bemängeln müsste, dann dass am Anfang nicht ganz klar ist, welche orangene Tüte man öffnen soll. Man startet laut Anleitung mit einer orangenen und mit 1 nummerierten Tüte. Hier kann man gleich beide orangenen Tüten öffnen. Ich habe mich genau an die Anleitung gehalten und muss sagen, man hat eigentlich bis zum Ende hin immer viel zu viele Teile auf dem Tisch. Eine Vorsortierung macht Sinn. Während man noch den halben Inhalt der ersten drei Tüten vor sich hat, soll man laut Anleitung zwei weitere öffnen. Da ich nicht so oft baue, habe ich erst bei diesem Modell gelernt zukünftig alles zu öffnen und vorzusortieren. Wenn man das nicht macht, klappt es aber auch ohne Probleme, das ist hier meckern auf hohem Niveau. Beim Aufbau hat mir sehr gefallen, dass der Drache nach und nach wirklich Gestalt annimmt. Man baut wie ein Irrer und zwischendurch werden immer wieder Baustufen miteinander kombiniert und man bekommt nach und nach ein Gefühl dafür wie das fertige Modell dann aussieht. Nach der ersten Bauanleitung, also ca. 50% standen hier Kopf, Rumpf und Hinterbeine und ich dachte "Wow, das Teil ist größer als ich es mir vorgestellt habe." Wenn der zweite Teil dann fertig ist muss man sich langsam Gedanken machen, wo man das Riesenvieh hinstellen will. Auf dem Karton steht was von 86,5 cm, während in der Produktbeschreibung 60 cm stehen...also das Ding hat wirklich mit Flügeln eine Breite von einem Meter fast und passt leider so nicht in den Schrank. Dafür musste ich die Flügel einklappen. Für den Aufbau habe ich zwei Abende gebraucht, an denen ich jeweils ca. 4 Stunden gebaut habe. Wie vorhin schon erwähnt bin ich aber ein gemütlicher Bauer, habe nebenbei mit meinem dreijährigen Sohn gequatscht, der halt begeistert zuschaute, wie das Ding langsam Gestalt annimmt, ein erfahrener Bauer sollte dies deutlich schneller hinbekommen. Ich brauche halt auch viel Zeit um die richtigen Teile aus dem Teilehaufen zu fischen. Qualität und Endprodukt: Die Teile sind gewohnt gut, klemmen ordentlich und ich mag einfach die Tatsache, dass die Mega Construx Steine so "dreckig" aussehen. Ich habe auch den Wind Raider von MOTU und diverse Figuren, die dann auf Platten stehen und die meisten Steine haben halt nicht nur einfach eine Farbe, sondern irgendwas noch zusätzlich mit drin, was sie halt einzigartig aussehen lässt. Mein Drogon sieht im Detail sicherlich farblich anders aus als alle anderen. Diese farblichen Details sehen an Drogon einfach toll aus. Jeder Schuppe ist etwas rötlich, die eine mehr, die andere weniger. Jeder Knochen, jede Fliese ist einzigartig. Toll ist auch der Stoff für die Flügel oder die weichen Gummischuppen. Da wir hier von Mega Construx reden gibt es auch keine Aufkleber, alles ist bedruckt. Der Kopf geht in Richtung Breakout Beasts vom Material her, was ihn schön beweglich macht. Ich bin mit dem Endprodukt mehr als zufrieden und für die Größe und Optik bei der Konkurrenz etwas Gleichwertiges zu finden bei dem Preis dürfte sehr schwer sein. Etwas zwiegespalten bin ich gegenüber der Figur. Ich habe zwei andere weibliche Figuren von Mega Construx, Teela und Evil Lyn, die wirken mir irgendwie robuster, ich weiß aber nicht wie ich das beschreiben soll. Die Gliedmaßen lassen sich genauso bewegen wie bei anderen Figuren, wenn man sich traut und den Gummi vom Gewand etwas wegdrückt, kann sie auf Drogon auch sitzen, aber irgendwas ist anders an ihr als bei den anderen Figuren. Aber auch das ist meckern auf hohem Niveau, da ich nicht einmal genau definieren kann, was an ihr nicht stimmt. Optisch passt sie natürlich und man erkennt wer es sein soll. Fazit: Kaufen! Lohnt sich auch für nicht Game of Thrones Fans. Der Aufbau hat Spass gemacht und das Endergebnis ist Bombe! Das zweite Set mit dem Kampf an der Mauer habe ich auch vorbestellt, hat aber die selben logistischen Probleme wie dieses hier, kommt also erst noch....aber ich freu mich schon drauf.

I bought this for my 11 year old son for Christmas as he loves dragons and wow!! This model is nearly a metre across when completed and very impressive! It takes some building ! I am a newbie to this kind of thing and it took us a few sessions to get him finished but wow !! Great model and looks fantastic when complete .
