The Little Red Hen (Little Golden Book) Hardcover – Picture Book, February 1, 2001

I wanted to get my 14 month old granddaughter the same kind of books that I read to her father when he was a child and I am not disappointed. We all know these books and love them. I’ve started a collection for her of all the classics. They just don’t make them like this anymore! It’s nice to see her opening books instead of sitting in front of a TV. Great quality as always and great stories. I very highly recommend these to your children of grandchildren.

A children's classic that is inadverdently a marvelous refutation of socialism.

Excellent book with a timeless message about selflessness and helpfulness. I gave a copy to my step children who like to sit around and watch their mom do everything for them. I wonder if they'll get the hint.

I recently had the pleasure of reading The Little Red Hen, a classic children's book in the Little Golden Book series. I must say, this story truly captured my heart and left me with a warm feeling inside.One thing that I absolutely loved about The Little Red Hen was its timeless message about hard work and perseverance. It teaches children the importance of taking responsibility for their actions and not expecting others to do things for them. This valuable lesson is conveyed through the story of the little red hen who tirelessly works on planting wheat, harvesting it, and baking bread all by herself while her lazy friends refuse to lend a hand. The moral of the story encourages young readers to be diligent and helpful, which is an essential life skill.The simplicity of the storytelling also appealed to me. The language used in the book is clear and concise, making it easily understandable for young readers at an 8th-grade level. If there was one thing that slightly disappointed me about The Little Red Hen, it would be the lack of diversity among the characters. While this may have been more reflective of the time when the book was originally published.
