Can I toggle this light on and off with a remote, or any other mechanism that doesn't involve me feeling behind it for the switch?

Not without modification, which is what I did. 4 screws to undo the frame, white perspex lifts out, insert a switch inline of the red thick wire which is close to the white ribbon cable. This allows you disable disable the battery using the new switch. That means it can now be controlled by the plug switch. I then plug the light adapter into a 'smart plug', which allows me to turn the light on and off by voice, phone or PC (instantly or timer). I have left a review with a couple of photos.

Is cooling ambient or fan assisted?

No fan that I can hear, so ambient I believe. I have them running for 12 hour work sessions and they don’t burn out (I have 2). Very solid for the price.

Can this light be used whilst plugged into the wall socket?

Yes, the light can be switched on and works whilst charging from the mains. The instruction book makes no reference to this however, either to say it's OK or to warn you not to do it. The battery life claim of 1.5 hours seems accurate to me so I haven't used it for a prolonged period whilst plugged in (other than to try it just now).

There’s a little confusion over the capacity of the battery, the product marketing shows two lithium-ion batteries and 8000mAh. The box shows 4000

There are 2 4000mAh batteries built into the unit giving a combined total of 8000mAh. I have ran the light on full power output and the light lasted for 1 hour 52 minutes. On reduced power it has run for hours.
