Dried Whole Ghost Chile (Bhut Jolokia) 18.16 Gram (15-20 Pods)

I decided to eat this with my friends...I saw plenty of YouTube videos and I figured I give it a whirl. When received them, I was surprised by how many were in the bag. There had to of been over 20!! My first thoughts were how am I going to eat all those?? So I decided to start out small...I ate one seed. It really wasn't that bad...the heat only lasted like 5 minutes, but about 3 hours later...I was living in the bathroom. I just couldn't stop, it didn't burn, but it just kept coming...for like 2 hours. I couldn't believe i had that much inside me!! So a week went by and I ate another seed...same effects. So I knew I couldn't handle seeds at this point...So decided to try a piece of the pepper with some friends...Wow!!! Hottest thing I put in my mouth at this point.I would describe it as a desert in your mouth. It was like a dry heat...it only lasted about 5 minutes though...not terrible. So my other friend come over and I ask her if she would like to try a hot pepper...before I knew it...it was in her mouth...I quickly tell her to spit it out in the garbage...She does but then aks me "Why". Then her face got flushed and I don't think I had to answer her question. I quickly gave her glass of milk...which she hastily chugs down. After about 10 minutes and 5 glasses of milk she swears she'll never eat another pepper I give her again. Then my friend and I finally decide to go for the big one and eat a whole one...I deseed them and then we start the stare off. While staring at each other we place them in our mouths and start to chew...within 10 seconds he spits it out and just falls to his knees...and yells for water. By this time I swallowed it but start taking deep breaths and saliva starts building up inside my mouth. He's got water and is taking mouth fulls and spitting it onto the ground. I starting running around in circles with my mouth wide open, while are friends are staring in laughter at our self inflicted torture. After about 20 minutes of agonizing pain...my mouth is dead. I feel ok, just a slight burning sensation in my neck and throat. Surprisingly none of us had any digestive issues...must have been from there not being any seeds. Also NEVER touch your eyes or face until you've washed your hands like 5 times. I did it 3 times believe me...it's not fun. Overall a lot of fun and packs quite a punch.5/5 for family friendliness.

Before I start, I should begin by saying that like most Americans I considered myself spice adverse. I could eat maybe medium spice salsa on a regular basis, though on occasion I might try spicier. I mostly bought this just to see what the thing tasted like. On the one hand, that means I'm probably going to come off here as a wimp compared to other customers. On the other hand, though, that means I think most everyone could try these... if at least they built up to it.These arrived last week and thus far I've only been able to get through one whole pepper. I've been taking them in small bites, starting with a piece no bigger than 2mm and working up to pea size, then quarter size. Eventually I hope to work my way up to a serving of an entire pepper.It's a strange experience. My first experiment was in the morning, starting with a 2mm bite. When you hold one long enough, your fingers feel... spice. Pain might be the technical description, but I prefer to believe its so strong you can taste it through your skin. If you place one against your tongue, you feel it immediately, and unless you regularly squirt pepper spray into your mouth, it's probably the spiciest thing you've ever tasted.After realizing just how spicy this was I decided to get it down quick. No time to savor it. I've heard the taste is strongest a few minutes after you eat it, but for the first tiny bite I tried it died down quickly enough. Figuring I was safe for another go, I take a pea size bite. Now it's pretty much everything you'd expect. I discovered though that with an adequate supply of milk supplied in small regular sips the pain becomes bearable, and it's even possible to speak. 20 minutes pass like this, and I think the coast is clear.But it's not over yet. The spice is gone but you don't quite feel the same. I don't mean to say it wrecks havok in your digestive tract - I've tried chiles like that but it didn't seem to crop up for this one. It's like you feel more alive, like you just got back from a vacation going mountain climbing. The night of the experiment I had a dream I was going skydiving... We were in Antartica, and we didn't need parachutes since we were only jumping 1000 feet. When we finally reach the ground, the plane landed and went just slow enough for us to hop back on and do it again. It was all rather vivid, too. I've never really had a dream quite like it. I can only think it was the chile.

I love a good spicy kick in foods, and needless to say this didn't disappoint in giving the ol' kick, however since this is regarded as the spiciest pepper in the world I was a little dissapointed that I didn't end up going to the hospital after eating it. Most spicy stuff just tastes good to me with a slight tingle, tobasco for example is just barely spicy and is about a 2 on a 1-10 scale. This stuff is about an 8 or 9, and while it didn't make me call 911 it put me in a scorched coma for a bit.First bite was a cautious little nibble, a slight tingle but nothing much. After awhile of nothing I ripped off about half of it and ate it, and while it numbed my mouth a bit once it hit my stomach, well... now I know how Mr. Orange felt throughout Reservoir Dogs. It just sat in my stomach in the same place burning like a damn minituare sun, burning away. So the peppers certainly work well for 'dares' or whatever circumstance it is where you're only eating the pepper.Mixing them with foods is a different story, the peppers have a great dried delicious quality, and they look just like the picture so you can imagine the texture. The heat is great too since it doesn't overwhelm the other flavors, it's rather subtle like an infernal landmine waiting to go off in your mouth. If you like spicy foods it's a great addition to your kitchen, and if you want to prank someone or go on a dare or whatever, these peppers work for that too.
