An excellent product. I will consider buying this to travel with, but that's about it. It's cost prohibitive.Also, the lack of stock available on Amazon and on the drink root website is a concern. It's not leaving me with much trust in the company.UPDATE: One thing I did not consider when writing my initial review, was kava nausea. Since then I have run into terrible nausea with several kava root powder products. Therefore I have reconsidered. I now see the continued value of Drink Root products. Because they contain no root fibers, they can bypass kava related stomach problems (for me anyway). I will continue to purchase Drink Root products regularly for this reason.

Loved this stuff....it I'd pricey, but worth it....it was the 1st kind that I tried and I really enjoyed it...I actually am about to order more...of you don't feel anything at first, take a bit more and wait a while...I promise it's worth the money and dosing issues lol! The company is super prompt on response time to emails and customer service as well, which I truly appreciate. Thanks guys, keep it up....also, the taste isn't bad at all...yes, earthy, but mix with a little cranberry juice and you are good!

I don’t profess to be an expert or anything and these opinions are my own.I’ve been around kava for a while and was always skeptical about buying kava online since I got burned in the past. I usually just visit the local kava bar in East Village or schlep out to Brooklyn, but am starting to dread the trip from LIC and the pounding it would make on my wallet. It’s up to $11 for a single bowl of kava in the city now. So I took the chance on this one and we were pleasantly surprised. I’m not a fan of making kava the traditional way and am known to make too much or too little, so these pre-measured pouches were SUPER convenient. If you enjoy the process of making kava, more power to you, it ain’t for me. There’s nothing worse than wanting to extend the buzz, and realizing you need to wring out another sock of it for 15 minutes to get there.Aside from that, I like how they addressed the issue about eating and kava. I’m not sure if it’s actually dangerous like the point out, outside of the potential nausea, but it’s well known food masks the kava buzz. Not many people talk about it, but it’s there. Think of having a beer after a big meal, and having one after a low-carb meal or no meal at all, very big difference. Kava was never meant to be consumed after eating anyway, and all the Fijians I know drink it a few hours before meals or very late at night. If you’re going to drink it, have it the way it was consumed for years.Performance - 5 of 5After two sessions it’s clear this is good quality kava, no question. Mental clarity and relaxation was in full swing without the grogginess of cheap knockoffs. Buzz came on fairly quick, within about twenty minutes I was floating and found myself zoning out on the fish tank for half an hour. I’m a bigger guy but I only needed a pack and a half to get to my zone. The duration was expected, a couple hours, but it was nice to just add a 1/4-1/2 a pack when it started easing off.Taste - 5 of 5As many of you guys already know, kava doesn’t taste the best. Unless you’re a big fan of pasty-spicy-mud-water. I don’t trust pill extracts since they're known to be from China, so you just gotta suck it up. Partially relieved to see this one not being as morbidly pungent as most though, it was actually smooth. Mouthfeel was mild in terms of numbnessPrice - 4 of 5Although still being WAYY cheaper than visiting the bars, it’s not the cheapest out there. However, with kava you tend to get what you pay for. It’s like craft beers if you’re familiar with the scene. There’s Budweiser, there’s Stone IPA’s, then there’s Founders Bourbon Ales. Different price points and completely different quality. This is up there in the better quality kava’s, and certainly the best instant I’ve ever tried.Overall ConclusionI’m giving it a 4 out of 5. Rounding down because my package showed up two days later than expected and didn’t arrive in time for our kava get together. Will order again since the packets are perfect for Central Park days.*EDITI just noticed they just released a pack of 15 that’s priced very reasonable. This review is for the 7-pack so I’m leaving the stars as they are, which I think is still fair, but the 15 is a deal.

I have been wanting to try kava as a way to relax for a while, but every time I tried it didn’t work for me. This was the first kava product that gave me the result I was looking for! I didn’t have to question whether or not this was a “placebo” as it was obviously working as intended. It also comes with a little pamphlet with a QR code that gives you great first-timer info. Love this and will buy again!

Literally was able to stop drinking, thanks to this amazing product. (NOTE: never mix with any alcohol whatsoever -- it inhibits an enzyme responsible for metabolizing alcohol, and blending the two can cause liver problems)SO glad it's as simple as "just add water"Much greater sedating than "KavaSupreme" brand instant kava...which also doesn't dissolve entirely, like this one does. I found KavaSupreme to be slightly relaxing, and great when combined with this -- but without this one (DRINK ROOT) being utilized, I don't get quality sleep. "DRINK ROOT" instant kava or bust!I never trust normal kava powders, given there are so many nuances with the sourcing (NOBLE harvesting only, sheerly utilizing solely the roots, which are the inherently the healthy parts of the plant), preparation (omg this is exhausting if you prepare normal root of kava properly, from the otherwise RAW powder itself -- way too taxing), brands to sort through (hard to know who to really trust in the raw kava powder scene), proper lab testing (requires HPLC quantification of kavalactones and associated beneficial compounds), typical lack of oversight (while this product actually has W.H.O. -- i.e. World Health Organization -- approved practices), the amount that goes into a product (with regular kava powder, it takes 28g if you want the same degree of efficacy and alkaloids within only 2g -- 1 TSP -- of Drink Root), AND normal kava powder involves deep searching into the lab protocols for each vendor including but not limited to, regulatory practices for lab purity testing guarantees (while this product, Drink Root, is absolutely verified to be free of heavy metals and impurities, through proper cGMP protocols as a baseline, followed by USDA Organic sourcing and FDA degree of product quality, as noted on their website, and...as easily felt in their product).This is one of a kind.Amazingly ideal,And I never get any stomach ache, or undue hangover of any sort.Seriously consider this (and again, never ever combine with the slightest amount of alcohol --- and also, ensure you never quit alcohol cold turkey, as such would be undue and dangerous, depending on current daily usage -- fortunately in my case, I wasn't far down the hole, so this product helped me immediately climb back up to baseline). It's worth it. And if you think it's pricey, again: take into consideration all the nuances I noted, as well as the potency (28g worth of kava powder within a teaspoon or less of DRINK ROOT dehydrated powder).I have so many empty tins of this but I haven't stopped purchasing it. I LOVE IT. and I'm no sellout. This is just... unique. And I'm glad I found this product. Nothing compares, within the domain of products and range of effects, let alone, simplicity of preparation, within the entire range of ethnobotanical solutions for stress reduction.Wow, I sound like an infomercial by now. Sorry. Really.ButLiterally I just feel they deserve the review by now -- especially given how much I've ordered.
