## Overview

The UP! Mini Fully Assembled 3D Printer is a compact and efficient device designed for creating high-quality 3D prints. With a maximum build size of 4.75 inches in all dimensions and a resolution of 0.20 mm, it offers precision and versatility. The all-metal enclosure minimizes noise and odor, while the heated build platform ensures thermal stability for optimal printing results.

## Description

The UP! Mini 3D desktop printer has an all-metal enclosure and fabricates objects using 1.75 mm ABS (acrylonitrile butadiene styrene) or PLA (polylactic acid) thermoplastic filament (sold separately), with a vertical resolution from 200 to 400 microns (0.20 to 0.40 mm). The printer can build objects to maximum dimensions of 4.75 x 4.75 x 4.75 inches/120 x 120 x 120 mm (H x W x D). The included printer management software runs on a Windows or Mac OS X computer, reads Standard Tessellation Language (STL) files generated by computer-aided design (CAD) software (sold separately) and commands the printer through the provided USB cable. The enclosure guards against room drafts to help minimize temperature fluctuation, and helps reduce operational noise and odor. A build platform heats to 51.4 degrees C to help provide thermal stability. A perforated cell board is held to the platform by full-side mounting channels for a secure fabrication base. Solid metal guide rails and precision slide bearings help ensure precise movement. The belt-driven stepper motors meet the National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) standard ICS 16-2001.SpecificationsPrinting materialABS or PLAVertical (Z-axis) resolution200, 250, 300, 350, 400 microns (0.20, 0.25, 0.30, 0.35, 0.40 mm)Build speed10-100 cm3/hBuild volume4.75 x 4.75 x 4.75 inches/120 x 120 x 120 mm (H x W x D)Printer weight5 kg (11 lb)Printer size14 x 9.5 x 13.25 inches/350 x 240 x 350 mm (H x W x D)Power requirements100-240VAC, 50-60Hz, 200WInput formatSTLOperating systems supportedWindows XP/Vista/7, Mac OS X*H is height, the vertical distance from the lowest to highest point; W is width, the horizontal distance from left to right; D is depth, the horizontal distance from front to back.3D printers fabricate physical objects directly from computer-aided-design (CAD) data sources. Objects created by additive manufacturing are built by dispensing successive thin layers of molten material onto a moving platform base from a robotic extruder nozzle. The material is most commonly a thermoplastic or HDPE (high-density polyethylene) filament.PP3DP manufactures UP! brand portable 3D printers and accessories. ## Questions & Answers

**Q: Is it easy to use ? And worth the money?**
A: Complicated answer: It's easy to use once you figure it out. The manual is poorly written, I suspect not by a native English speaker and a little hard to figure out how to set up. Also, the screen shots of the software don't match the actual software, so you have to figure out what they mean. It makes really good quality prints, but here's the BIG problem: First, you can't print PLA with it as the print head won't feed it. I have 2 printers and both have the exact same problem. Second (and worst part), the feed gear inside the print head is very sensitive and after ABS has been open for a while, it won't feed anymore and prints fail. Neither of my printers will work at all anymore. I can't get support to get the printer head fixed. I even talked to the manufacturer at CES and they just said "oh well." I wouldn't waste my money again if I had it to do over. I might spend some time re-engineering the print head, but that will be a big project and a lot of trial and error.

**Q: hi my name is david.i am jeweler.
can i make mold for rings and charms?**
A: David,With this printer, you can make some quite ornate items. Making a mold for anything wouldn't be too difficult, but you would need quite a bit of knowledge in 3D modeling, if you were planning on designing a ring from scratch. If you already had a ring in mind to make a copy of, you could use a 3D scanner to create a digital copy. Once you have your 3D ring file, you can print it. Once you have your duplicate, you can then make a mold around that out of plaster or whatever else you were needing.

**Q: the table only heats up to 60 degrees so the prints keep sliding off. On the into video i see it up to 100 degrees. how can I fix this?**
A: Always use a raft. Preheat your bed. While you are doing this, blow a hair dryer on the bed also. The dryer helps the bed reach a higher temperature. Once at the higher temp, the heating element on the bed seems to be able to maintain the higher temperature. Also, after you get the bed warmed up, make sure you keep the door closed to hold in as much heat as possible. I've never had a print fail to stick to the bed using this method. Hope it helps!

**Q: Is there some software that goes with it, and can you design your own 3d print?**
A: The printer comes with software that can be downloaded from their website and loaded onto your computer. You can use free 3d modeling software to create your own prints. One such is Google Sketchup and there are many more. A good site to look at for print files is www.thingiverse.com where there is over 200,000 objects available. I have been having a lot of fun using my printer and so far no troubles.
