A treasure trove for anyone interested in the Chicago mob
What a fascinating look at the mafia and the inner workings during the height of it’s power. Vincent Inserra is not afraid to name names, dates and places. Written as well as any movie, with details that will make you cringe at the depth of evil that man can lower himself to for the sake of his own self promotion, this is an author who is a hero that I wish were still alive today to ask questions about how he survived hunting and escaping the ire of the gangster. Who knew they lived so close to the schools, attended the churches, and ate at the tables next to us? Who knew that in the blink of an eye they would be talking about the deaths of humans without so much as a blink of their eye? Who is able to live like this? This is a book that explores the world of the truth behind the headlines. This is a book that rivals any book with it’s insights, it’s information and it’s bravery. It’s a must read for the students of the day, who have no idea as to the courage of the people who went before them to ensure that they are able to make the choices that they make today. Kudos to the agents of Criminal Squad #1, and especially Vincent Inserra. And our thanks to their families who endured the untold sacrifices as their relatives fought the Chicago mob so they would experience the disruption and ultimately dismantling that would bring convictions against the Chicago mob. This is a riveting look at the life of the Chicago mobster and the agents who brought them down.

very enjoyable read
I personally know and admire the author very much. Reading the details of his career has increased and expanded my respect and admiration for him and his most colorful career. I lived in Chicago during much of the storytelling that took place in this book. I remember many of the names, places and news worthy events that are depicted in this book. It was enjoyable and informative to get the behind-the-scenes story on many of these events. I would encourage anyone who has been attracted to the many stories, actual or depictions from Hollywood, to read this book in order to get a true flavor of what really went on behind the many stories. Congratulations to my good friend Vince Inserra on a job well done with the FBI, Kemper Insurance and the epilogue of his life, this book.Richard Gagliani

Interesting History
A common citizen does not always realize what is happening around them. Luckily we have people like Mr. Inserra with integrity to protect them.

Reads like a FBI report.
If you are looking for a story on the Chicago outfit, this might not be your book. I found this book to be alot of short chapters that read like a FBI report. The author was head of the C1 crime unit and while he gave alot if information on individuals within the outfit, the book was also filled with lists of names of the FBI men working each case. While it is a very thorough study of case histories, it was somewhat tedious to read. I often felt the author missed the mark on why things happened within the mob because he couldn't stop thinking like a g man. If you want facts on cases , this is your book. If you want to know about the dealings of the Chicago outfit and why they did what they did then you need to pick a book written from a different point of view.

Organized Crime, Chicago, and the "Good Guys"
Vince Inserra and his FBI colleagues were the "real-deal" in Chicago, Their unique talents, investigative skills and creativity are memorialized in a fun and informative style in "C-1 and the Chicago Mob". Inserra's historical accounting of what the good guys (and some bad guys) did to organized crime in Chicago and around the country is a treasure!

Inserra Nailed It!
A very insightful and interesting depiction of what went on here in Chicago. There was no embellishment - just hard facts from an individual that was there. I have referred this to a number of individuals that also confirm my evaluation.

I enjoyed the real life stories
I enjoyed the real life stories. What a different world it was then. Thanks for giving me an image of what it was like in "the good ole days."

Bait and switch
I ordered two of the same books. One was a hard copy and the other was a paperback. The paper back was great. The hard copy was the same book cover placed on a different book. The book was entitled THE CONCEALED CHAOS SERIES by S.J. Monsour and S.G. Winter. The cover and the book both had different skew numbers on them.
