Before I did that, I decided to test it. I put it within about 6 inches of a heavily trafficked area and sat watching all 5 cats walk past, turn to look at it when it went off, walk over and sniff it, then move on. Attached is a picture of one cat inspecting the unit as it went off. No urgency, not the slightest bit frightened off by it. One actually laid down beside it. When another cat would walk in front and set it off, he didn't even bother looking up after the second or third time.I don't know that the persons stating how well this worked are paid shills; but I have a VERY hard time believing this works on any cats. He took 6 babies in 1 month. I got this as a I-don't-know-what-else-to-do. Omg!!! It's fabulous!!! I put it on the post nearest the section he liked first and immediately he stopped going to that section of the fence entirely. Wouldn't even go near it. After about a month, I moved it across the yard and sure enough, I heard him one night jump to the gate, twice and twice slide down. Now he avoids the whole fence. I wish I knew about this earlier! Simply amazing! Honestly if I didn't know my cat and his behavior so well, I wouldn't have believed it. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Seems to work...but *by D***A on Reviewed in the United States on July 24, 2013* I have a couple of small issues with this deterrent.First, mine is in a garden bed to keep my cats from going potty in the soil (and nibbling on my greens). My garden has tomato plants and green beans, which are tall and sometimes the sensor does not pick up on movement, as the red light indicator does not go off. When I place it in the open, it seems to have a nice, sensitive sensor...but not so much if the sensor has things in it's way (makes sense, right?!). So if you're using it in a tall, crowded area, this may not be your best solution.Second, my cats seem to have gotten used to it a bit. When I first put it up, I watched as the startled away once they heard the sound (which of course, I can't hear, but I know went on because I saw the indicator light go off). But now, they creep slowly, then the light goes on and they simply freeze (the high pitch sound lasts for about 5 seconds). Then they continue to move in a slow, stalking way and continue into the garden area. Still, they haven't pooped, pee'd or eaten in my garden, so I guess for the most part it has been working.I am going to move it to another location to keep them on their toes, so they hear the sound when they aren't expecting it. I have read other reviewers say this works to keep the animals guessing.On the plus side....NO INSTALLATION hassles! Simply stake it in the ground with a 9 volt battery and walk away.
