I didn't read the description very closely. Why bother? I've had little flashlights since the 1950s, right?Except these don't use a single AA battery. There's a battery holder thart holds 3 AAA batteries. That means a dozen batteries are required. The holder doesn't have three batteries in parallel, but three in series, which means two fot forwards and one fits backwards. Pay close attention so that the spring for each is against the flat end of the batteryIf you get a battery in backwards, you waste 2/3 of the energy in the batteries, and the light doesn't work.If the battery holder is inserted upside down, it doesn't work, and it's really difficult to screw together. I finally figured out how to load batteries in all of them, and get them to work, but felt like an idiot for not being able to figure out a flashlight.The batteries in series give a bright light, but a relatively short life. That goodness LED lighting is notoriously efficient. You'll go through a LOT of batteries if you use these much. Other reviews decry the worksmasnship, but miniflashes have always been poor quality, at least since the 1950s. The problem is the design, not the worksmanship, and if you don't force anything,they should last fairly long. The  Maxworks 30204 3-1/2-Inch Nine LED Aluminum Flashlights, 8-Pack  flashlights are actually cheaper despite the higher price, because they include batteries. One reason they're cheaper is that they come with zinc-carbon batteries instead of the alkaline batteries I used with these four. That doesn't just mean shorter life, but straight out of the package, thosew flashlights are only about half as powerful as these are with alkaline cells, after a week of use. The other flashlights have nice fit and finish, as do these, but the switch seems solid on these flashlights and thr other flashlights seem less so. (Once you've used up the origial batteries, you'll probably install alkaline cells, and the switches on the others may well last a L O N G time, despite my first impression. My point isn't that these are greart flashlights and those are terrible ones, but that they are both OK, and if you can use a less-bright flashlight, they are pretty much the same value.)My eyesight is deteriorating due to macular problems, and I need really bright light to see fine print. A Fire handles that fairly well, and it's a shame I can't use the camera on it to magnify important mail. (Hint, hint, Mr. Bezos!) My magnifying glass has a light, but it wears down hearing aid batteries in no time flat. These flashlights help me live independently - and after a lifetime as an independent cuss, I'm not eager to beg for assistance!

==========UPDATE 05-14-2016They contacted me again today, to make sure I was happy with the second set of flashlights and that they were all functioning properly. BYB definitely has A+ customer service.====================UPDATE 05-12-2016: Raising my original review from 3 stars to 5 stars, based on the quality of their customer service. They contacted me regarding the light with the dead LED and offered me a promo code to get a whole new set for 1 cent. It's now on its way. You can ask for better than that! BYBlight is clearly committed to excellent customer service.Regarding the lights themselves, now that I've been using them for a bit, they are bright, lightweight, and work as advertised. The one caveat about them is that they get quite warm after they've been on for a while, something I haven't noticed with other flashlights. This doesn't seem to be an operational problem, and could even be a benefit in cold weather - they could act as a handwarmer :-) - but it's something I've noticed, and other flashlights I have don't get nearly as warm. If you keep flashhlights on for extended periods of time and the heat would bother you, it's something to keep in mind.=========My original review:Similar to what you'd get at Harbor Freight. Small and light, just right to carry in my RV.Only giving three stars because one of them has a dead LED right out of the box. Can't imagine how that got through the quality check, but it's not worth returning it.

Update: Paris at Byblight reached out to me and offered a refund on the defective flashlights. They also offered free replacement flashlights. I received the replacement flashlights within a couple days. I tested the new flashlights and they all worked perfectly. I'm impressed that a company would stand behind their product to such a high degree. I certainly appreciate the excellent customer service, and its nice to have such small, compact, and bright flashlights.These flashlights are great when they work. They provide a nice bright light. Unfortunately only 3 out of the 4 flashlights worked when they first arrived. After that, each of them take turns working or not working. You have to play around with them by twisting them and shaking them to get them to briefly turn on. Then sometimes they just stop working for a while. These are completely unreliable. Can't even use them with the kids playing around in the back yard because of how often they fail to turn on.

I've had the pack of 4 LED flashlights now for over a month now. Worked great when I got them, however with light use one flashlight has completely died. The others are working, however on one of them 3 of the LED lights are out. Is this a good product ? Yes, for the price. Would I buy them again ? Probably not. When working they are a good flashlight, and fairly bright. However, I would want something more reliable. Looks like they were made in China, the fit and finish are okay for the price, but be aware that in the pack of 4, your odds of the mall working, and long time working are slim. Just my opinion, that's all. Hope this helps someone.I must say ByLight does read the reviews. I was contacted by their customer service department, and offered a replacement set for 0.10, yes, TEN cents ! I have received the new set, and all 4 of the flashlights are working as described. Seems this company really cares, and has outstanding customer service. I can only tell you my story, and I am completely satisfied. I have upgraded my review from 3 stars to 5 stars, simply for the outstanding customer service. ByLight didn't have to do this, but they did.
