Extreme disappointment in D-Link
The D-Link DWL-6600AP has ended in supreme disappointment. After months of troubleshooting poor performance with others and the D-Link support, firmware upgrades, and replacements from D-Link RMA, I'm now in the final stages of returning the product to D-Link for a refund. I believe this product, which is D-Link's first attempt at a business-grade dual-band WAP, is critically flawed. The ease in which this device becomes overwhelmed is astonishing. I was not even using it in a corporate or small business setting, it was at my house! The problem lies somewhere in the quality of the processor or the wireless antennas. Extreme lag caused significantly high latency for wireless clients, even compared to other D-Link consumer-end devices.I will also add that I really wish I bought this product on Amazon and not through a discount online merchant. Dealing with D-Link directly was a nightmare. Their managers did not return my calls and I really had to be forceful for me to get a credit and return the device. They wouldn't grant me a refund even though they admitted that the product was flawed by design. One thing I learned from this experience is that 5GhZ networks are over-rated. 2.4GhZ networks have better range, and broader compatibility. Most houses cannot fully migrate to 5GhZ since they will likely have 2.4GhZ-only devices still present. Therefore the best you can do is go dual-band. Even in my small house I had trouble with 5GhZ around the periphery. I cannot imagine how many AP's it would take to fully cover a large home with 5GhZ. Remember, 5GhZ is no faster than 2.4GhZ. In some urban areas, you might have less interference since fewer devices in your building will be on the 5GhZ band.2013 will bring 802.11ac which will provide gigabit-like speeds to wireless devices. I suppose I will wait to replace this AP with another until those devices have debut and settled.

Articolo difettoso di fabbrica
Ho acquistato 3 access point e li ho dovuti rispedire all'assistenza in quanto sono risultati difettosi. Spero di non ricadere in situazioni simili
