Funny, relevant, and makes sense!
I heard this author speak on a couple of podcasts (cult of pedagogy, Duff the psych) and wanted to read his work. I love how he basically takes brain science and relates it to real-life examples. While it is easy to read, it is chocked full of insightful and useful tips. A must for any teacher. After reading it myself, I requested that it be our departments' summer book club reading!

I Can't Think of Anyone This Wouldn't Help
Why isn't this information taught to everyone in school?? If I had read this in HS or College I would have been such a better student! Regardless, I'm glad I know it now because I'll be a better parent and business owner for it. And, my kids will be armed with this information as they embark on their education. It's a quick and entertaining read, looking forward to his next book! A MUST READ

Useful book for teachers of all levels
This is a helpful book for teachers and presenters of all levels. It is full of actionable suggestions based on solid science. It is a pity that the notion of "influencing" got tacked onto the title of this book by a publisher trying to broaden its appeal. Don't let that put you off reading a book that is clearly valuable to anyone who makes standup presentations of any kind.

Plenty of useful, actionable info here.
I enjoyed the book, and all of our lives would improve if everyone read it and applied the information. I definitely recommend buying it.

Best Book for Teachers
This book is incredible - I'd never heard of some of these ideas, and those ideas I had heard of I've not seen discussed in such a meaningful way. Loved this book!

Stop Browsing and Start Reading
In almost 20 years of business leadership and consulting, this is the first time I’ve come across some of these ideas. Not only is this book new, fresh and important - it’s also incredibly fun to read.

Good introduction
Covers much of what Roediger also covers in Make It Stick (not Made To Stick -- different books!), but a much more lively read. Give them this to get started and the other book to take their understanding deeper.

Terrifically useful and engaging book for teachers. Popular science, practical applications
I'll never multitask again! This is the best practical book I've read about brain science for teaching. It's written in an accessible, engaging style and is full of useful applications for teachers and speakers. Each chapter has a brain science finding and how you can put it to work. The writer uses memorable metaphors so you don't get bogged down in scientific terminology. Clear explanations. An interactive book to go back to, reread, try the ideas. You'll discover plenty for your own learning, too.Publisher: I don't think the cover does it any favours. It's a lively, fun book with mini exercises. Glad to discover it and this author.

Must read for anyone wanting to convey information and facilitate understanding.
Concise , explanatory and fun- each section is backed up by examples and exercises you can (and will!) experience for yourself. Rather than fluffy postulation or hard neuroscience that's almost impossible to apply, this book wonderfully extols the practical application of cognitive neuroscience in an engaging and practical way. Dr Horvath is currently an Educational Neuroscientist at Melbourne Uni; if you get to see Jared in person you'll know he presents like he writes- fascinating and fun- all the while challenging common sense errors or affirming and edifying much of what's been implicitly understood by the best teachers. I have both a Kindle version and hard copy- and my hard copy is already doing a tour...do yourself a favour and get your own. You don't need a scientific mind, just an open one- it will be easier for you when your mind is blown. As a teacher of 25 years I cannot recommend this enough.

One of the best books for the educator out there
The 12 insights aren't new to me but the way they are explained transcends anything I have read before - the author makes you experience most of the insights with the examples he gives . The simplified, easy to understand explanations are backed up with a comprehensive online reference list for those wanting to look deeper in to the subject. Anyone who is an educator, leader or coach should buy this book

Restores my Faith in Non-Fiction
Wow. I did not expect this. This reminds me of those great pop-sci books from the 90s (before the genre became a bunch of 300 page fluff that could have been written in 10 pages). It feels like each page introduces a new idea, and every idea is important and useful. For instance, I used to think I was weird for not being able to take notes when the teacher was speaking, but now I know why it is impossible. I feel like I should have been taught these things in grade school.Honestly, I was about ready to give up on this genre but this has reinvigorated me. Reminds me of books like "The Brain that Changes Itself" and "Proust was a Neuroscientist". Fun and useful. I can't recommend enough.
