Great for being an old kit
This is my second HG kit I've purchased using this design (the first was a repaint as Eva 04). It's pretty good for being so old. For starters, all the joints (which are polycaps btw) hold very well and do not pop off very often. The only place that seems to come apart more frequently are the feet (ankle guards, front foot pieces, etc) but even then they just pop back on. Even the mouth and the Entry plug function well. The articulation of the kit itself is not amazing but serviceable, given its age and price/size. The arms, unlike most kits, actually are made of a series of gears and internal skeleton covered in a rubberized coating (for more screen accuracy). That looks very cool but that means they don't bend very much and you shouldn't leave bend them too too as it could damage the rubber skin. The legs are probably the weakest part, articulation-wise, as while the legs themselves move very well, the feet are fairly limited in side to side movement. Fortunately, the abdominal joints make up for it with a great range of motion (each abdominal segment is articulated). For accessories, the kit comes with the positron gun (NOT the positron sniper rifle used by Unit 01 or Unit 00 but the gun used by Unit 02) as well as an entry plug, pallet rifle, progressive knife and umbilical cable (all of which are molded in solid inaccurate colors so some painting for them is recommended). The kit also comes with miniature Toji and Kaworu figures which are molded in solid tan. The kit itself also requires paint but includes stickers instead (they work mostly but are very finicky to get set properly). For being the only model kits I have of living creatures, they are VERY well done, even for their age. As for which to buy (this one, the Bardiel version and the Unit 04 version) it depends what you'd want. If you liked the possessed Eva battle from the show/movie, go for the Bardiel version but all three are very good for the money. Speaking of buying, the Eva kits released for Evangelion 1.0 and 2.0 are engineered the same way for the most part as the older kits and considering their price tag at $50, I'd say only get those if you REALLY REALLY liked the movie. Otherwise, stick with the older kits.

If you’ve never built anything in the Evangelion LMHG line, consider giving it a try.
Arrived before expected date, which is always a plus for packages shipped from Japan. The box was in incredible condition especially for the age of the product. Working towards completing my collection of the Bandai LMHG Evangelion line before I build them all so I can’t speak to the quality of the product itself just yet. All I can say is that I prefer the LMHG line over the Bandai kits for the Rebuild series. They have finer detail, better articulation, great gimmicks for the time, and brilliant colors. The Rebuild kits feel flimsier, have poorer articulation, and the plastic is almost see through at times. They both have their own merits, and for history sake alone it’s worth going back and trying out the LMHG line, specifically if you’re a Gunpla builder. I’m obsessed with these kits!!!
