very suprised with its quality
its all metal and it moves slowly. the quality is very good. though i doubt its 22lbs capacity, id probably only stick to half, still great product. moves smoothly, and it moves slow enough where its easy to get precise and able to lock on firmly with my payload of 6 pounds

Nice budget Pan option
This is great for those that do not have heads with panning adjustments. I bought this for Manf ball head use that did not have panning options. Kind of silly they don't but ok. The NEEWER pan sys is about the same as other designs on Amazon and Ebay. I ended up buying this one after the last one I had of a different brand the lock for the pan sys stopped working. I do a lot of photos with multiple exposures, astro, and LS. Nice to have a sys that is smooth, but the lock tension is there. I think over time and heavy use this one will become faulty as well. The lock seems like a lightweight plasticky material that wears as you use over time. On my previous model that lock adj was all the way in meaning the actual threaded part of the locking screw just completely wore down. So far so good on the NEEWER model. Perhaps they made some changes, but I still think the locking screw is probably the same and I will end up buying another one sooner or later. Given the price I may just buy another to have on hand.

A little tight while panning.
I'm using this on a dji osmo6 on a minopod for recording sports for my kids. Easy better then holding out up the whole time, I can now just twist the handle to pan left and right. It's a bit tight while turning though even after the knob is loosened all the way. I kind of fixed it by taking a drill attached it to the thread and just spun it a few thousand times. It's still tight but way better.

Smooth Operation for Calibration
I bought this panoramic base to ease the compass calibration step for my Seestar S50. Its smooth operation makes this setup step a breeze.

the lock screw extends below the plane of the base
Amazon people: Please do not post this. The problem is with my tripod. I will post another review after I;'ve used it. Thanks.if you mount the pan base on a flat surface, like the top of a tripod, the lock screw is jammed into the mounting surface, and can't be rotated. You have to leave the pan base unlocked, thus making the setup liable to bumping. It's hard to imagine how the manufacturer doesn't know this.Update: never mind. my tripod is not flat. The 3/8 screw facing up, is recessed, so that when you tighten it, the pan base is resting on its perimeter, not on its flat bottom. The problem is the tripod, not the pan base. The pan base is stiff to turn. I assume it has thick grease. I'm afraid is will be difficult to turn below freezing. I will find out tonight.

Appears to be very well made
I do a lot of panoramas and wanted a rotating base with a clear-to-read scale. This product appears to be very well made. It is solid, with no wobbles or looseness. There is just the right amount of resistance in rotation. It feels like it is fluid-dampened, which is great.
