Carhartt Men's Quilt Lined Zip To Thigh Bib Overalls

Please read in sizing- my brother loves them
I had ordered the Carhartt Men's Quilt Lined Duck Zip-To-Thigh Bib Overall, and ordered the Jacket, please read review I wrote about the Jacket as well to help with your purchase. I had ordered these bibs in the brown color, I had read many reviews stating to order a size bigger, my brother wears a 34-35X32 in jeans so I placed a order size 36X32 and they fit perfect as I did re-order the Jacket as ordering don't size up, With the bibs you need to order a size up in waist as a 34 needs a size 36, they fit him perfect. Normal size in Jeans right at 34X32 if wearing the bibs size up or jeans underneath as he has plenty of room to move and not big or bulky, if you order your normal size they will be to snug. I hope both of my reviews helps and prevent returning. The bibs are true to color in the brown tone, very quilted, warm, great product as if you went to your local Carhartt store. Bibs show in pictures a slight brighter color they do match. As stated in my review about the matching Jacket, order the Jacket in your normal size, worked out great as my husband stands 6'3 weighs 252 lbs and the XL Jacket fit him perfect he liked it so well I just re-ordered the Jacket in a L as my brother normally wears a L and the XL (Jacket) swallowed him, my husband don't have the bibs but he loved the quality of the Jacket. Very well packed and ordered on 11/1 and arrived at my door on 11/4, you can't go wrong, a wonderful warm Christmas gift. Nothing I can say bad about the 3 orders I placed as it all worked out great! Please read about the matching Jacket review. "Update" Review after opening for Christmas, everything stated is true however I did have to return the M bibs size 36X32 for a bigger size for a L in size 38X32 as this person wears a size 34X32 in jeans, it states to order two sizes bigger which I did they fit perfect all but the top snap on the hip waist area he couldn't snap, I will reorder once the bibs are received in the warehouse.

Used by a motorcyclist instead of chaps or thermals
BLUF: They are warm as heck. Order a size or two up on the waist. Try them on at a store if you can.I’ve just gotten back to riding my motorcycle again year-round again. I’ve been adding layers and clothing along the way to ensure that I can ride throughout the winter, and this past week the temps and wind chill took the ‘feels-like’ temperature down to 20 degrees. I really hate wearing thermals, so I decided to try coveralls at a friend’s urging. After having spent a morning looking over different styles on the internet, I determined that a quilt-lined pair of overalls is what I wanted to go with. I took a trip over to my local Tractor Supply Company who had this same brand priced at exactly $20 more. I would have bought a pair then, but they didn’t have the size that I wanted. They also didn’t have my size in their store-brand either. I assume that had something to do with going after the first major cold/freezing spell. So, the biggest benefit was actually trying them on. In reality I wear a 32” waist. When I tried on a 34” waist in the store, I thought it was a bit tight. I ended up ordering a 36” waist from Amazon, and so far, they are perfect. I don’t feel like it’s snug. I ordered roughly two sizes up and have been very happy with the result. The length is 30”, just like every other pair of pants I own.Notes on fit:-I wear them with a pair of combat boots. It’s easier getting them on than getting them off.-The zipper on the pant legs works fine. The buttons are a pain in the rear, but that might be because they are new -and very stiff.-There are so many pockets. Great for using them for their intended purpose – overkill for riding-I don’t like the fasteners for the overall straps. They work fine, but buttons would have been easier here. This is more like a hook and loop style.-I had to take off the overalls to adjust the straps. I ordered my normal ant inseam, but had to tighten the straps quite a bit. Still would not have changed that decision. When the temps are well below 40, and half that with the wind chill, these work amazingly well. My mid-section and upper legs are toasty warm all the way down to 20 degrees real-feel, and going 60 mph. The only drawback that I found when using them for this purpose, it gets cold from about my shins down when the cold air gets up under the pant legs. This is due to them being loose at the bottom of the legs. Again – I am not necessarily using them for their intended application, so it’s not surprising that they are loose and allow air to flow, but that’s the only drawback. Otherwise, these fit great and they keep me warm. If I only had a pair of gloves this warm.

Tricky sizing, but unquestionably worth it
To say I’m impressed would be an understatement. I’ve been wearing these almost every day this winter both at home doing personal projects and at work in a feed/country store warehouse.FitThese are a rather unconventional fit. I normally wear anywhere between a 28”-30” waist being 5’7” and around 124lbs. For these I ordered the 30”-30” and they do fit quite well. The waste is perfect, leg length is perfect but around where the waste buttons are (which actually sit just bellow the height of my diaphragm) are too tight to button when I’m layered up underneath. Is this a deal breaker? Not even slightly, I just leave them unbuttoned. I’ve worn these with quilted shirts and fleeces underneath, two pairs of trousers and all sorts of other combinations and I’ve never found them too uncomfortable. That being said, be conscious that it may take you a couple of attempts to find the right size for you, I just got extremely lucky first time.WarmthThese keep the wind out like nothing else I’ve worn, but the quilting definitely isn’t the warmest. That shouldn’t put anyone off though as, like I mentioned above, these are perfect for layering and with the right undergarments I’ve worn these comfortably in anything from 5 degrees to negative 20 degrees without any complaints.Protection/longevityAs I said, I’ve worn these almost every day for several months now and other than a few stains (who cares, they’re workwear) they don’t have a mark on them. I carry several tonnes worth of 25 and 40kg bags every day slinging animal feed with no issue from these overalls, and I’ve even carried 40 rod rolls of barbed wire resting them on my crutch without anything piercing or even marking the overalls. Add to this the fact that I should likely get another winter season after this one from them before I even think about replacing them and they’re well worth the money.SummaryThese are an excellent pair of overalls for colder climates, especially if you’re dealing with harsh materials. They aren’t water proof (like that’s even an issue bellow minus 5), they aren’t fire proof and they aren’t chemical resistant (as far as I’m aware) but for yard work, warehouse work and transportation work they are phenomenal and I can happily recommend them to anyone. The only caveat is the sizing, but that’s a difficulty with almost any piece of clothing these days.

I love this product. Its my second pair, one at work, one at home the farm. it doesnt matter how cold it gets with long johns and this salopette, i am toasty and dry. I bought my first pair when i was working in northern alberta in january (-20 to -30) but i needed some fleece pants underneath for the big cold days. you can weld in them and they wont burn. you can drag them across sharp objects and they wont tear. My zippers on both pairs have not failed yet and i can find no fault with this product. well done carhartt
