Scotch Book Tape Value Pack, Excellent for Repairing, Reinforcing Protecting, and Covering (845-VP)

This book tape is an awesome product. Unlike most tapes, it has a very long glue life (10-15+ years). It won’t leave a sticky residue. It’s one of the strongest tapes available, the perfect tool for bulletin boards, to adhering to extremely difficult surfaces. It’s clear plastic is thick and you can not tear it like packing tape that dries and leaves a yellow residue. That’s why it’s been librarians favorite. But I use it on everything, especially decorating. I’ve used it to laminate business cards, build cardboard structures, hang things from T-bars, labeling desks, protecting paperback spines, taping outdoors, sealing labels , it’s incredible versatile. Great for book repair

Used by me to strengthen books in the libraryThe downside is that when you take the book off the shelf the glue cracks lengthwise and in a heavy book the cover tearsI tried gluing the back of the book to the cover but could not find any glue that would stick well to this glue because it is smooth

This tape was originally sold as a protective cover for hard bound/hard back books, but where I use it the most is protecting soft/paperback books and manuals. Most of the newer technical books/manuals I have are paperback, and the part that wears out first is the back and edges of those books. A piece of 3M #845 Book Tape on the binding ensures that sweat and hand oils don't destroy it.I have paper back tech books that are 20 years old, that have seen a LOT of use, but are in good condition because I protected the binding with this tape.Practice on some books you don't care about; it take a bit of practice to learn how to clean, place, and trim (think Exacto knife) a book, but if it's a book you want to keep, it's worth the effort.

Honestly didn’t know this stuff existed. I’m a teacher who has her own classroom library. My books get read A LOT, so this has been a game changer when it comes to saving my tattered books.

This package of tape was an excellent value for the amount of tape received. Works wonderful for repairing book pages that those little preschoolers rip!

Have used this brand for years. Great quality, strong holds up over time

I used this to prep my books for a classroom library. The tape really helped strengthen the spines, however if you try to make a small cut perpandicular to the tape like it says to in the instructions, it often rips all the way across! I ended up just taping the spines on the inside and outside and it worked great!

3M book tape is what I use for library repairs.

My first book tape. 3M book tape is more expensive than its competitors (Demco for instance), but i've had only good use from this (based on a previous purchase) - tape is strong, sticks on well but is also easy to remove completely, if necessary. Couldn't ask for more.

This book tape is the best.* It sticks long-term and does not yellow or flake.*as a Librarian, I ought to know.
