Super fun!!
I love Fluxx! It's a simple and sometimes chaotic short card game. This edition makes the base game more complex by adding new cards and a level of role playing. I recommend it for anyone

Great, simple game with several surprising twists.
As someone who had never heard of or played Fluxx before, I wasn't sure which version I should go with when I came across these games. I chose the Cthulhu version after reading the reviews, and I'm glad I did. The game is very simple and easy to pick up right out of the box, after just a quick scan of the instructions. However, despite it's beginner-friendly set up, there can be a deep degree of strategizing once you get the hang of it. At the same time, the deck is constructed so that chaos reigns at any given time. The entire game can be flipped on it's head with a well-placed Action card, and someone can sneak in a win out of nowhere by changing a Rule card, or swapping out the Goal/Ungoal. The game is very interesting, and this seems to be a good version to grab for people who have never heard of Fluxx before. It works fantastically with just two people, and just gets more fun and chaotic as you add players. I will be checking out the other versions available. If you're considering getting this game, definitely go for it. You won't be disappointed. Great family fun.

A fun twist on Fluxx
Fluxx is a fun game for groups. My scouts and Venturers discovered Fluxx and we routinely play it on camp outs or other gatherings. The Zombie version adds in some additional rules which ups the randomness (and complexity) of the game play. Fluxx on its own can be a bit on the tougher side to learn at first, and the additional rules from the Zombie version can add to that difficulty, so only 4 stars on easy to learn. But once you get the hang of it, this is an immensely fun game to play with a group of friends.

Awesome game!
We bought this one to replace one that was stolen. All 3 of us think this is the best of the Flux games, and it's our favorite card game.

Fluxx is at it's heart a very simple game. You don't even need to know how to play to start playing. Every single card tells you how to use itself. You just read the cards. Generally you draw some cards and play some cards. A player wins when they manage to have a combination of a Goal card and some Keeper cards down. The problems and fun come from the rules being in flux, the goal can change, the rules change, keepers come and go, and you have to keep track of all the nonsense. Games last between about 5 and 20 minutes generally. There are many many themed versions.Fluxx is occasionally accused of being too random. Which is fair, it's very random. Fortunately that totally makes sense in a Cthulhu themed version. Lovecraft's universe is an uncaring place where forces beyond your control can snuff you out without a moment's notice, and Cthulhu Flux is a game where far worse than your friend beating you Yog-Sothoth might just burst into our dimension and end the game causing everyone at the table to lose. It's an oddly appropriate merging of a goofy game and a bleak theme. People are slapping Cthulhu onto everything these days, this is one that actually works. For all my talk of randomness it also feels like a more strategic version of the game than Star Flux, the other one I own. There are things to keep track of and it feels like there are more things to do that are useful, and it somehow isn't as subject to the endless Goal cycling that sometimes makes any planning at all impossible. With the Ungoals, where the monsters win, there can even be an almost co-op aspect to it as players try to win while keeping things from getting out of hand and everyone losing.

Not my favorite Fluxx set ever, but pretty fun
I've played Monster Fluxx, Space Fluxx, Zombie Fluxx, and this one, Cthulhu Fluxx. Out of the four, this is my second favorite (Zombie Fluxx is my first). This introduces two new mechanics to the Fluxx formula: ungoals, which are like goals, except if they are achieved, all players lose. The exception to this is if one player has the "Secret Cultist" card, which allows them to win if an ungoal is triggered. There's also "doom" points, which certain keepers and creepers have. These points interact with other cards, and can trigger certain goals or ungoals. There are certain cards in this set, like the aforementioned Secret Cultist, or the Necronomicon, or the Elder Sign, which are really interesting and have really neat effects, but most of the cards here are just sort of your standard Fluxx cards. Unlike Zombie Fluxx, which I felt really shook up the Fluxx formula, Cthulhu Fluxx is much closer to the "vanilla" Fluxx experience. There's also two cards in this set which I find really stupid and have just removed from the deck. They both have to do with having players name things that they are afraid of IRL, and I find this sort of meta-gaming kind of out of place in a card game like Fluxx.Still, this game is really fun, and the Cthulhu theme does come across on most of the cards. You can get into some really interesting situations involving certain keepers or creepers in this deck, but you can also find yourself just playing a pretty standard game of Fluxx. If you like Fluxx, you'll like this set, but if you're looking for something that really changes the Fluxx formula, this isn't really it. If you're really into the whole Cthulhu thing, and you've never played Fluxx, you might not find the game thematic enough to scratch that Lovecraft itch, but you'll probably still have a fun time playing it.

My new favorite version of Fluxx.
Ungoals, Doom, Secret Cultist... This game adds lots of dimensionality to classic Fluxx.

Another for the collection
I adore Fluxx - this is my third box just so I have different versions. It’s an easy to learn game and can be short or long. It’s never the same and it’s an awful lot of fun. I can’t wait to get more Looney Labs games because they’re incredibly innovative and different to any I’ve played before.

An awesome game
I had zombie fluxx before this one. This has a new dynamic and makes the game end quicker. Love the HP Lovecraft vibe and theme. Great game if you like Fluxx.
