Easy to operate and the ability to wake up to freshly filtered coffee is wonderful.

Lovely drip coffee machine. Very stylish and easy to use. Like others have mentioned, if you position this under a wall cupboard, you will need to pull it forward to fill with water but no Biggy.

We bought the Smeg drip coffee machine to replace an old Bodum machine which, on good day made excellent coffee quickly, but had a random habit of overflowing for no obvious reason. After five years of mopping coffee off kitchen surfaces, we decided it was time to buy a more reliable machine This Smeg is a pleasingly solid looking machine, nice and compact for a small kitchen. We bought the cream colour which matches our Dualit kettle and toaster and all three have a pleasant retro 50's feel. Good looks, however, do not guarantee good design. Setting up involves plugging in, then setting the clock, and hardness of water setting. This was a bit fiddly to do, but you could always just leave it on default. I live in a rural area with frequent power cuts. As luck would have it, one occurred while I was typing this review. When power was restored, I checked the Smeg and was delighted to discover the settings had not reverted to default, so outtages of just a few minutes will not mean I have to reset each time. I prefer a water tank that can be removed and taken to the tap, rather than bringing the water to the tank, but the Smeg's water tank is fixed. it is at the back of the machine with a rather narrow aperture. I found it wasn't possible to use the coffee jug to fill it, so I had to use my own plastic measuring jug. It takes ten minutes to make a full pot of coffee on the high aroma setting. Our old Bodum took just seven. The hot plate will keep the coffee warm for 40 minutes and seems to work well. The coffee jug is glass; I would prefer an insulated jug to save power. There is a 4 cup setting, which I've tried and works perfectly. I haven't tried the timer yet, but it could be useful when entertaining. The permanent filter and its holder are easy to remove for cleaning and filling. Is it worth the money when you can buy a drip coffee machine for as little as £35? That is difficult to say. My experience with cheaper appliances is that they have a shorter life-span, so there is little saving in the long run, but on the other hand I could buy 5 of the cheapest popular brand for the price of one Smeg.

Such a good coffee machine. Makes really good coffee. The functions are mostly easy to work out how to use if you follow the instructions on the manual. It's also really attractive on the countertop! Only gripe is that it only keeps your coffee warm for 45 mins, would prefer it to be longer. Would recommend.

Fantastic, looks great and very easy to use & clean. Is slightly on the expensive side but worth it.

Ordered this coffee machine on Thursday and it arrived on time Saturday 2 days later as stated at the time of purchase . Strongly packaged, and very happy with it. To be honest I only bought from this supplier as it was cheaper than anywhere else, if I need any more kitchen supplies items then I’ll go to them before anyone else. Well impressed.

Absolutely LOVE this coffee machine. For a start, it looks amazing, totally eye catching! Quality is outstanding as you’d expect from a Smeg item. Really easy to set up and use, I did without even looking at the instructions. Comes with a little coffee scoop and is all wrapped in Smeg bags for extra protection. Would highly recommend

Before I bought this machine, I had a cheap, basic plastic one from Kenwood that lasted years and years with no issues whatsoever before I replaced it with this one, purely because I'd always loved the look and had wanted one for ages. We've had it four years, taken great care of it (precisely because of how expensive it was), and it's now ready to throw out. The "shiny metallic" coating has started to chip off, some of it even ending up inside the tank when opening the lid, which is dangerous for obvious reasons. On the back, it's become heavily discoloured, with an ugly green stain that I assume can only have come from all the steam it releases at the end of the brewing cycle, even though it's positioned in a spot with plenty of airflow all around it. In terms of the brew itself, I'm a very picky coffee drinker and never noticed any significant improvement from any other basic countertop filter machine. Unfortunately, I do think despite the gorgeous design, there's nothing about Smeg that makes its products any better or worse than the next brand's, so if you don't want to find yourself chucking out a £200 machine in just a few years, think again before buying this. No point looking as lovely as it does if it doesn't actually deliver in terms of function and quality too.
