Melissa & Doug Take-Along Show-Horse Stable Play Set with Wooden Stable Box and 8 Toy Horses

I really like this brand of toys, they make a lot of fun and durable wooden toys for kids. I had a ton of their items for my own kid and I buy them as gifts for other people's kids. This set of ponies I bought for a little girl for her 4th birthday and she went gaga for it. It has been months and she still plays with it just about every day. Great set. Awesome gift. Durable, sturdy, and just generaly well-made. Also, very cute ponies.

How my kiddo plays with them:My two-year-old loves his horses! He likes to take them in and put them back in, organize and face all the horses the same way. He will line up the horses on top of the barn. He likes to pretend that they are running, whinnying, and rearing up.The stable:The stable itself is nice as a carrying case, and the latch has not failed. The two end stalls are a bit narrower at the opening, but still workable and can help to teach a child some patience when putting the horse into those spots. The door hinges are held by string, meaning no hardware to break or crack the wood if there is a mishap. Also, if something were to happen, you could easily fix the hinge yourself. The doors are strong and have held up fine so far. The barn is nicely pained and detailed in classic barn red.The horses:The horses all have different markings and are "different breeds," but do not actually reflect any particular breed difference (aside from the paint and appaloosa markings) structurally, as they are all the same mould shape. I was a little bit disappointed by that, so they aren't like a Breyer with the detail quality. They are sturdy though, and feel like a tough rubber/plastic material. Each stall has a spot for a name sticker, and stickers are provided, along with a little info on each breed included in the set.Overall:This show horse stable has been a large success in our home. It's right up there with the cars and trucks as to how much my toddler plays with it. It is super cute and nicely made. It looks like Breyer stable mates would fit if you want to expand the horse collection. I think another reviewer mentioned that they fit. This barn with the many types of horses is a huge hit! My daughter in law is a horse trainer and uses it teach help teach classes when she can get my granddaughter to share it lol. My granddaughter loves the horses and the barn is durable and a awesome way to transport, and store the horse when she is going on a road trip. They are small enough and she enjoys playing with them for hours! Beautiful likeness and incredible quality and design! Great gift ideas!

This was a gift for a 2 yr old who loves horses, but I saw it at her house and was very impressed by the quality and detail of the horses

Quality product! Perfect size for my 3 year old. He loves playing with the horses and always puts them away back in their barn!

It's pretty good but again the bent legs are a big problem. You still got a lot of use playing with them. It's just harder to get them to stand up with at least one leg on each horse. I still recommend it as a good playing toy, especially for my 11-year-old

Such a fun gift idea. My 1 and 3 year love this. No small pieces , great for imaginary play.
