Perfect rice every time
My partner eats a lot of rice- it's his go to snack or addition to a meal, but would always get rice stuck to the pan or burn the bottom slightly, or leave the steamer equipment out too much. So I decided to get him (us) an early Christmas present of this rice cooker based on the good reviews. There are a few elements that make this a great rice cooker to use:1. Easy to cleanSo the non stick coating really works and makes it easy to clean- you only really need to rinse it to get the starchy residue/ leftover grains off. You'll need to wipe the top of the lid too because of the steam, but again that's just a quick wipe with a warm wet cloth.2. Easy to useJust add your rinsed rice, add 1.5x water with some salt and/or spices, flick the switch to cook and it'll cook based on an internal scale thing automatically, and turn it to warm once done so it doesn't overcook. If you try it and think it needs a bit more water, you add a lil bit, return it to cook mode, and it does it automatically again- really low effort.3. Easy to storeThe plug detaches from the base unit, so you can store the lead in the cooker without having to faff about with a cumbersome lead. All the bits that come with it fit nicely inside it so you don't have little parts floating around the kitchen just waiting to be lost.4. Saves a space on the hobUsually whenever I did rice I'd need to use up the most handy sized pot and keep an eye on it on the hob. I suppose this isn't specific to this product and relates more to rice cookers in general, but I think it's still valid combined with the easy to clean part.5. Reduces steam in the kitchenFor some reason the kitchen gets less steamy using the rice cooker. Not sure what this magic is but I'm here for it.The first couple of uses give off this kinda plastic-y smell bit that goes, and I think it's just because it's not been used before and comes straight from the factory.I would provide a picture, but it's exactly as it appears in the product image so it wouldn't add anything.Thumbs up from me!

Perfect for my needs
I came to this product as a complete newbie to rice cookers. I am therefore not comparing it to anything else, but only to whether it fulfilled my needs.I was drawn to a rice cooker as I liked the idea of putting the rice on and forgetting about it while I prepare the rest of the meals - it does exactly that.Things I like:* It has two buttons. Warm and cook. In todays age of complicated appliances it is quite refreshing to have something that just does what it is supposed to do. (You have to switch it off at the wall to completely switch it off. A button on the machine would have felt a bit more premium but then, a switch is a switch and I guess it keeps the cost down.*It is easy to use. On their website you can go to recipes and type the rice that you want to make. For Basmati I use 1 Cup of rice to 1.5 cups of water. I believe that the machine monitors the temperature that changes once the water has evaporated to judge when it is finished, so there is a margin of error. (as long as you put enough water in.) If you want to put it on hours before you eat and leave it, the rice might become a bit compact and you will probably have to seperate it quite thoroughly. I cook rich with the meals though.*Easy to clean. The nonstick bowl lifts out and washes easily. It forms a very thin layer of rice on the bottom. If you seperate the rice the moment you switch the cooker off then most off this can be seperated from the bottom. But it rinse very easily. I use the plastic utensil that is provided and no scratches have appeared yet.*Steaming tray. It has a steaming tray at the top. It is perfect to put Broccoli in. It cooks it perfect every time and my boys do not eat broccoli cooked any other way anymore.*Value for money, I did not want to pay hundreds of pounds. I think this is very good value for money.I will buy it again.

Good if flawed
While it is easy to clean, I do find the rice, depending on the rice used, can stick to the bottom. This is especially true when spooning out as whatever is closest to the bottom dries out quickly and just gets stuck. Soaking it in water works wonders and it's not too tricky after that but it's not exactly non-stick.I'd also ignore the advice for how much water you need to add. This varies considerably from rice type to rice type and I'd recommend playing around to find your own sweet spot. The first time I tried it using the recommended amount it burned the rice at the bottom. It is a pain to clean. The vent comes apart, but the filter also comes loose and shouldn't. The lid needs a good wipe after every use and would recommend you do this as quickly as possible before the rice sludge dried and stick. My main gripe is in not having an off switch. I have to turn this off at the wall to stop the device heating the pan constantly so feel this is an odd oversight for what is a basic function but very effective rice cooker. I do like the consistency of the rice produced and my partner loves that it's one less pan to clean for her and we can set it going through the day and have hot, fluffy rice in the evening.
