Just what I needed for a mini-itx NAS
Mini-ITX mobos are notorious for having limited storage expandability due to their size, but they're a popular choice for NAS systems because of how compact they are. My board has a maximum of 4 SATA ports and I only needed a few more so this M.2 adapter was perfect for my needs as I wasn't using the M.2 slot already. So far this expansion card has worked flawlessly and transparently; no drivers needed and my drives showed up as they should. There were other reviews worrying about how hot the chipset gets and after running a 1 hour write test to both connected drives at the same time I only measured a peak temperature of about 125F. However for peace of mind I stuck a small Raspberry Pi heatsink to help with longevity. Also, yeah, those activity LEDs are **BRIGHT** and they light up the inside of the case so I recommend doing something like putting a piece of electrical tape over them if they're an issue for you.I'll update this review if anything arises, but so far everything is good (also as a note I bought this used).

Works Perfectly
Works perfectly, super simple to install, just drop it into an m2 slot and hook up some hard drives. They're immediately detected when I boot the machine, no drivers or hassle needed. It even came with 5x SATA cables which I wasn't expecting or needing, but nice that they're provided just in case.

Does exactly what it's supposed to. PCB was curved.
It works as intended. The PCB is VERY flimsy and slightly curved when I got it. Be careful when installing it. It appears to be poor build quality and any attempt to straighten it out to install it in something may break it.

Works great, but feels fragile
Once set up, it works great. Just be very careful handling it. The sata ports are incredibly stiff and the pcb incredibly flexible. In fact, probably the stiffest sata ports and most flexible pcb I think I've ever come across. Not really a good combination. But other than that works like a dream.

Great idea, terrible execution
I loved the idea. Installed easily and looked amazing. After testing it out on 3 different motherboards I found out that only one port was actually functioning correctly. The other port would only recognize one drive. Unfortunately by the time I was able to test the item my return windows had closed. No response from seller after email contact.

Works out of the box with TrueNAS Scale on a GMKtec G3 N100
Works fine. Comes with sff to sata breakout cables.

A unique and flawed product
Honestly, this item is (as of late 2021) still a one of a kind product. Logicaly, nvme m.2 slots are *just* x4 pcie slots, so converting to a x4 sata controller could be done without this products but with many janky adapters. However, simply having the controller and the 5 sata slots live on an m.2 form factor is a brillaint move that I hope becomes more adopted. The device works just fine on linux based servers where NAS capacity can be increased three fold if all nvme slots on a server board are used. With the praise said, the PCB is way too thin and flimsy, as other reviewers have said. The sata slots are also only soldered in by their data connectors, making this product super delicate and 'once connected, never moved.' The on board sata controller also gets very hot, which I fixed with a raspberry pi heatsink but *should* come with a heatsink included (even if it increases the price). There is no reason the product comes with 3 sata cables when 5 sata ports are given. The back of the pcb is bare and empty, so I added a stick of thermal pad to prevent the board from flexing too much. Finally, nvme slots are x4 pcie slots, add a heatsink and use all lanes if possible, IO Crest! A future revision of this card using all x4 lanes (instead of just 2) would be a beast for future a SSD NAS.tldr; This product needs a second revision with a thicker pcb, better solder joints, a chunky heatsink on the controller, and full use of the x4 pcie lanes.

Overall a great product
This is easy to install and does give you five SATA ports. No issue installing or in its usage. Please understand that by design it will take away two of the existing SATA ports on the motherboard. I had six built-in ports on the motherboard however, after installing this, I now have nine, since two became active that were already on the motherboard. This is not a defect in the product, but the design of NVME.

Great Niche Product! Added multiplier SATA port to ThinkCenter M910q M.2 Wifi Port
Fit M.2 E port perfectly. Immediately recognized by Linux kernel and hosting a 5 bay eSata hdd enclosure.

Work great in a Rock 5B
Purchased to add SATA to a Rock 5B. They work great straight out the box when running Ubuntu. No experience of other OS's but on Ubuntu they just work.

Overall fast card which serves its purpose well - with some room for improvements.
I'm using the card for a hot spare drive in a RAID-10 (all drives are the same model). The transfer speed with this IO Crest card is as fast as the drives that are directly attached to the SATA ports of my board. Just mentioning because drives attached to SATA controller wich is not part of the chipset are usually a little slower because they need to use the PCI bus to tansfer the data. This happened in my tests with controllers having an 88SE9XXX chip.I haven't tried to use an optical drive (ATAPI) with the controller. The JMB585 specs do not mention optical drives or ATAPI so the chip most probably won't support it. For me HDD and SSD are fine!BTW: The BIOS boot messages state that the chip is a JMB585 chip and the output of lspci is"09:00.0 SATA controller: JMicron Technology Corp. Device 0585"There will probably a BIOS update which fixes this. There are two things that could be improved. The drive appears in the BIOS settings but it looks like it was a drive attached directly to the mainboard. The drives connected to the other SATA card (with a JMB585 chip) show up as "e[number]:[MODEL]" or similar in the BIOS.The other is that since the IO Crest-card was plugged in I can not see the output of the other SATA controller card anymore. It showed its connected drives, so you could see - very early - in the BIOS init if there is a problem. That is neglectible for me since my BIOS checks the SMART data of all drives as part of the init procedure. So far this SATA card serves its purpose well. There is some room for improvements so it gets 4 stars.

Good before it died within 6 months
It was working ok for few months on my windows home NAS server where I used only one of the SATA port. Then suddenly I was getting constant Blue screen of death or PC just freeze. It took some time to figure out the faulty hardware and when I removed the adapter the PC was running ok again. I found out that main chip was getting very hot to touch after 1-2 minutes.I don't recommend the product.
