Accurate reaction time measurement makes slot car racing much more exciting!

Despite other's reviews I've looked forward to testing this product. I currently run Carrera 1:32 Analog slot cars myself (for drag Racing, due to my access to a vintage collection also), but I can see where other scale sets could have a problem with sensor detection, especially HO scale. Calibrating this product is both necessary and often a hassle that gets old really quick. Part of the particular issue is sensor height adjustment. Some vehicles are naturally lower than others so it makes it hard to try and find a more "universal" set point that applies to your own collection. Plus, both towers (start and finish) need to be adjusted to the cars running. Other reviews have mentioned the digital display only shows R.T. and not E.T. This (so called error) is simply due to the the system not being calibrated properly at the finish line end. Another words, the system is still waiting to detect a car, even if a run has already been completed, so until it does, only one time will be displayed. With that, the manufacturer openly says the system has a harder time detecting darker colored vehicles, which is true. They do include a few sets of small white stickers to apply on your vehicles (if necessary) to help aid the system in detection. Although not full proof or cosmetically appealing, I do appreciate an attempt by this manufacturer. The system itself still leaves much to be desired. The instructions are Vague at best and do not fully describe how to exit calibration functions and their fast handed terminology does not always match the hardware titles so It can make it extra confusing at first. * One great feature it does have, that is not advertised, is the false start detection! I was very excited to discover this unspoken function once I set the system up. The digital display will simply show "FAULT" and the red lights in the event of a pre-launch. Received this item and clearly the package was tampered with or already opened. Buttons and dials would not work properly and were either stuck/broken. The lcd display also wouldn't work properly, example the you couldn't tell whether it was a 0 or an 8.

Does not give reaction time and does not give elapsed time.

Only half of the product works should be sold for half price

Item does not even come close to doing what it advertises, Sensors do not detect cars, reaction time displays every now and then, and I have yet to get an elapsed time reading. I sent this junk back
