Time saver and easy to use.
It worked as advertised. It made a normally tedious job, quick and easy. I used semi solid stain to stain standard square spindles on my deck that are about 2' 9" in length. I was able to stain three sides at a time on each spindle. I was able to stain 85 spindles with one applicator pad. It took me about 3 hours to stain the spindles, plus I was switching to a brush to stain the exposed board between the spindles at the top, the 4x4 railing support beams and also the outer edge of the top railing as I moved along the deck. I was going at a leisurely pace as I was working from a ladder and the top of the spindles is about 8ft off the ground so the 3hrs includes ladder movement as well. I was being extra careful on the ladder as I'm a female homeowner in my early 50's and didn't fancy a fall from the ladder. So others will probably be able to do the same amount of work in even less time. After 85 spindles the pad is still in good shape and could probably have done more spindles. I was able to stain 2-3 spindles after each addition of stain to the pad. I did find it a bit difficult to add a proper amount of stain to the pad directly from the paint tray so I used a brush to add stain to the pad instead and this worked much easier for me.I had read some reviews that mention the pad detaching from the hook&loop backing but I did not encounter any issues of this sort. The backing still appears to be properly attached. Also the yellow plastic holder is in good condition. I saw a review that mentioned it broke but mine is still in good condition.I found this applicator pad to be well worth the price.I had purchased 2 extra pads but I will be returning them as I did not need them.

Works pretty well but doesn’t last
Works well for a while but the pad was falling off the holder after about 15 linear feet of pressure treated pickets on our deck. Ended up having to finish with a roller. Would have needed 2-3 of these to do the deck. Expensive for how short a time they last.

Game changer
We had to waterproof our front and back wood porches....full length of the house on both sides. It seemed like a daunting task for my husband and I to tackle but it had to be done. These little sponges were a game changer for the rails and balusters. Our house is on pilings so getting the outside of the wood seemed a little tricky. Not with these little sponges. They bent perfectly around the balusters and were easy to hold on to. Couple of swipes and it was done. I would suggest wearing gloves if you are staining since it will get on your hands. We did have one break (the plastic part) but we had expected that so we bought extras ahead of time. I think we ended up using 4 for the whole house. Worth every penny though. Also get a sprayer for the flat parts. Another game changer. We did the rails first then sprayed the floors and the outside edges. Done in one day with time for a lunch break.

Finish staining my deck in a third of the time!
I was a bit nervous about purchasing this after reading a few negative reviews, but I'm very glad I decided to take a chance. This little tool enabled me to stain my deck in a third of the normal time. Before the first use I took some tape and ran it against the pad to remove any loose fibers. I had no problems with the pad popping out of the applicator, and found that cleanup was quick and easy with soap and water. There were times when I had a bit too much stain on the pad, which caused drips. But once I got the hang of applying the right amount of stain, I experienced fewer drips. Also, sometimes it helped to do a quick "back brush" using my paintbrush to even out the stain and catch drips. But even with the added time of that, the project went fast.I will never restain my deck (let's hope this round lasts me at least a few years!) without using this tool.

The good and the bad.
Only after having brush stained each and every spindle on my deck in 90 plus degree heat did I bother to research something easier and more efficient. Each spindle needed resurfaced with another coat of stain, so I decided to try this tool. The good. It does what it claims to do, but seems to be most efficient on the smaller spindles, not flat surfaces. The bad. The out plastic shell has a half life of about one hour. Mine snapped as I was finishing up.Verdict. Despite the thing breaking toward the end (it was still useable) it did what it was designed to do, and was much more efficient than a brush, even in fairly tight places.

Don't waste your money, good idea, but not good execution and performance
I saw this and thought WOW! I have MANY wooden spindles to stain. I bought it and tried it. I don't like it for many reasons. While it seems like such a great idea, using it is a different story. First of all, you need a flat tray to dip it in, 2nd: it drips if using a stain (which is much thinner consistency than paint, so thus the dripping when you hold it vertically to start to use it). 3rd: I loaded it with plenty of stain, but as soon as you "grip" the spindle with it and use it, not squeezing it much, the stain runs down past it, AND it also runs out of stain too quickly, can't even stain the whole spindle without having to re-dip it in stain to "load" it up again. I also could not find any replacement pads on Amazon that were in the Prime shipping area, and Lowes only carries this item, not the replacement pads. I tried looking for the larger repl. pads & was just going to cut them down to size, but could not find them either. It was awkward to use, and I spent more time using it, than I did staining the spindle with a small 2" brush. Would definitely not recommend, and I was REALLY excited when I first saw this. Don't waste your money, it's not worth it, and I had over 150 spindles to do, and didn't use this due to lack of performance.

Simple Genius
I used this to stain a medium sized deck with railing spindles spaced about every 8" around the entire deck. In the past I've stained similar decks using a brush and/or painting pad to do the spindles. Simply put this inexpensive tool is extremely simple, but also simply genius. Worked flawlessly for me and greatly sped up the spindle staining process. 100% satisfied with this tool and will certainly buy again.

Good value
this little device is a godsend for railings. We did 45 feet of deck railing in one day. The plastic is brittle and cracked after about 4 hours of use but we were able to repair with duct tape and finish the job in one day.

Don't hate spindles as much anymore
I have a TON of spindles on my decks. I hated staining them, so as a last resort I got this applicator. WOW!! It was so easy to use. I then got the larger deck board applicator and it was just as good. Excellent products.

Real time saver
Worked well for staining the spindles on my deck. Once you get the hang of it and squeeze out the excess stain it is a breeze to use and save me a ton of time. Make sure to have enough extra pads depending on the size of the job. I would say one foam pad lasted about 40-50 spindles before it stopped being as effective. If the spindles are rough, the pad will wear out faster.

Terrible Product
Terrible don't waste your money. It broke the first time I tried to flex it. I ended up getting a much cheaper and more sturdy product from Shur-Line at Home Depot.
