Yasutomo Rice Paper Roll, 30-foot

Used this to make bookcloth. Because the paper is fragile when wet, I cut the sheets into small, manageable sizes for easier handling.

Makes a fantastic backing for bookbinding cloth. No wrinkles & dries smoothly under pressure from a glass plate using either wheat paste or PVA glue. It takes a little time to master such a thin paper while getting the right consistency of glue. The paper is not super thin like tissue & the mulberry fibers work well for thicker paper restoration using long fiber technique. Happily surprised for standard Kozo. Hard to knock this stuff down. Perfect for my needs but some may find this too thin to use if inexperienced or for other purposes. No paper is "good all around for everything" & this material certainly has its limits.

This is fine for very light water/ink painting, I thought this paper might be able to take more water and would work for ink washes but it simply falls apart. Seller was great though fast shipping and good price!

I bought this particular one for "gyotaku" fish printing and the paper gets stuck to the fish every time and ruins the print. Becareful of rice papers that say yasumoto only. I've have better results with yasumoto "shoji paper" with rice grains for wet medium fish printing.
