can i use the thin ones (140 mm) to file my tree saw teeth?

I’m not sure this would be the correct tool to sharpen a tree saw. Now if we were talking about a chainsaw blade I would say maybe but again there are better methods of sharpening. Hope this helps.

has anyone used these to gently file down small chips in crystal?

The grit is way to coarse. You need #1000 grit carbide or diamond dust paper to smoothe chips in crystal and tempered glass.

Are these rust proof for wet sanding/filing?

So far these have not rusted. I suppose you could use water to file but why? I use these for filing hardened stainless steel. I’m a surgical instrument maker.
