It's a Dancia Danvise with some minor improvements
I make hair jigs for crappie, smallmouth bass and occasionally salmon and steelhead. I have used a Danvise for almost a decade and still have the original jaws. I've tied literally thousands of jigs on it in with hook sizes from 10 to 3/0. It's still going strong, but I happened to run across this one while looking for someone else to see if the Danvise was still available on Amazon. At the time of this writing it was not, but I was very curious to see how this clone compared to my original so I decided to order one just in case I should ever need to replace it.All the parts on this Riverruns vise are identical to the Danvise except the jaws and the piece that holds them. You can look up reviews of the Danvise and you'll find it's regarded as one of the best inexpensive vises. That still applies here. The jaws on my original are solid and the Riverruns II are hollow. No functional difference. The jaws shipped very loose and it required tightening the rear set screw further than I thought at first and some jiggling of the cam lever shaft to get it in place. Before that the jaws didn't close, which probably explains the one star review. The other change is to the part that slots into the body of the vise. On the original the screw that holds it in is mounted on the middle so the end of the jaws are only about 1.5" from the flat face that looks like the barrel of a gun. On the new one the screw is mounted at the back and the front is slanted so the tips are much further away, giving you more room behind the hook.Yes, most of the vise is made from plastic, but it's good quality plastic and the parts where it makes a difference are metal. It's also important not to overtighten the jaws on the hook. You do not need to crank down on the tension. Doing so will damage the jaws. There are videos on the Danvise on YouTube showing the proper technique. Watch one BEFORE you use the vise. My original has never given me any problems. Don't let the construction deter you. It's a shame the first review was so negative. I paid $100 for my original Danvise almost a decade ago and I've definitely gotten my money's worth. Unless you are tying very small stuff, the Danvise has been a real workhorse that has never let me down, and this "new" version looks to be even better with the extended reach on the jaws and cheaper price.Highly recommended.

Just what I needed.
I'm really impressed with the milling and finish on this base plate. The recessed areas for beads and hooks are very handy. The protective case is a nice touch as well. My fishing buddy wants to learn how to tie flies, so I needed a second vice. I resurrected my old clamp-on vice that I got for Christmas some 37 years ago. Clamping it to a table was always a pain. This base allowed me to convert it to a freestanding vice. Now I'm ready to teach!

Husband liked it, good value for cost
It’s not top of the line, but it is affordable. It’s definitely sturdy—it’s about as heavy as half a brick, but it’s durable. My husband knows more about it’s value than I do and was excited to receive it although I can see him purchasing something more expensive later on. Since Christmas it has gotten a ton of use, as you can see from the pictures. He ties flies whenever he gets the chance and doesn’t have many complaints about it. It worked with a standard vice grip he purchased a while ago. Although he would like to upgrade at some point, he uses it frequently and ties flies that successfully catch him fish, so it works if you’re in a budget!

I was surprised!
I have to say awesome vise for the money! I’m new to fly tying and got a kit to start out. I wore the vise out that came in the kit and needed to upgrade. Came across this and figured I’d give it a shot. Boy was I surprised, this thing is great. Yeah quality probably isn’t as nice as others at higher price points, but for what you pay I love it. Really easy to tie larger flies I use in saltwater. The rotary aspect works great and makes it easier to apply uv resin and to check the opposite side of your flies. Can easily crank down on some larger hooks and then a little head angle adjustment and it does trout hooks. Smallest I’ve tied so far is 14 largest is 2/0. Would definitely recommend to new comers to fly tying that are still hesitant on dropping good coin on a vise.

it works beautifully for the price
I own stonfo, renzetti and petitjean vise profile plates, for less than $10 , this sits perfectly on all of those vise stems and works beautifully. save yourself the money and just pick it up.we spend more on one bag of material - this rocks, and yes, it's cheaper but it is sturdy and should last .certainly the more expensive versions may last a bit longer but really, how often do you move this plate anyways.

Trop de plastique
Trop de plastique 90% plastique et 10% métal avec les années le plastique devient sec et plus facile a briser j'ai peur de ne pas avoir de pièces de rechange ,mais très belle .
