Knit PicksDouble Pointed Wood Knitting Needle Set (Caspian 5")

This kit is awesome and works perfect for small projects as socks or gloves. Bonus - each size comes with 6 needles even if you need only 5: wooden needles can be broken so it's nice to have a replacement for just in case. A little bit pricy, but I love knitpicks yarn and am ready to pay for the quality tools.

I received this the next evening. Gorgeous, smooth, perfect points for socks and hats. I bought the 5" because I can also do the fingers on gloves easier too. These are superior needles, and I am going to buy more Caspian needles.For those that love to knit, you definitely should try these needles, and you get 6 sets of 6 needles per size. The case is simple and easy to see and find what you need. Terrific!

I really like these needles. I like having two sets of the number ones. I bought these so I can have two socks going at the same time. (Alternate working one, then the other, not like Magic Loop.) If you put too much pressure on them, they will break, so just be aware of that, but so far, they feel great and look pretty! I think a beginner would be more suited to something that won't break, until they get used the feel for #1's and sock yarn, and learning their tension.

KnitPicks products are overall excellent in my experience. While very nice, these are NOT needles for beginners. Actually, if you can afford it (NOT me! LOL) these DPNs will force you to relax your tension and hence smooth your knitting pace. i.e. - be gentle or (literally) pay the price. My husband will tell you - when I have a needle snap in the middle of my project, let’s just say that it’s good there are no children in our house...They are very smooth, and have a reasonable degree of flexibility. The narrower ones are quite easy to snap if you use too heavy a hand.Needle size is spot on, and it’s really nice that you get 6 per size compared to the 5 others offer.

Overall, nice needles. However, I am using the 2.25mm for socks, and within the first 2”, one of the needles developed a chip in the coating. My yarn caught on this chip, and it no longer slid smoothly in my work. Although it’s a tiny chip, it’s a tiny needle for tiny yarn, and it makes it unusable. I really hope this issue with the enamel coating is a fluke and will be isolated to that one needle. It would be really upsetting if this happens throughout the set. I know this is a good company from recommendations, but this is my first purchase from them. Hopefully future purchases won’t have this issue. Rated 4 stars because the needles look beautiful and I was very happy before this occurred.

Using double-pointed needles is pretty challenging if you've never done it before. It can feel like you need an extra hand sometimes! I've got both these and another brand. As a beginner, I found that Knit Picks' needles were easier to use than my other needles because they're really smooth and don't snag on the yarn the same way others, such as bamboo. They're also super pretty and come in some great colors. The only thing that I would change is having both ends be pretty sharp rather than just having one "extra-pointy" end. You figure out which is which by sight pretty quickly, but it'd be nice not to have to check.

Beautiful wood in contrasting teal, blue, green, and seafoam. These double pointed knitting needles are a work of art by themselves. I love the way they look. The colors are clear and deep looking. The points are nice and sharp. The wood is smooth and easy to work with. All the necessary sizes are included for knitting in the round using multiple double pointed needles. These would make a wonderful gift for a special knitter. Very nicely made product. I would like to have the Caspian Knit Picks in all of the types of needles and crochet hooks.

I set out to knit a pair of socks and realized I didn't have a single needle in my house that was the right size. Since it's my first pair I opted to do it with the double pointed needles since I'm more familiar with using those in general for small projects. These needles have been great. They have just enough grip so that I don't have to worry about the yarn slipping off the needle while I'm working on the heel and they're slightly flexible. They're also just beautiful. I have the short and regular interchangeable sets in the Caspian color as well. Highly Recommend.

I have had many sets of Knit Picks needles and never had a broken one in 15 yrs. One needle in this set did snap. It was a 2mm, the smallest, and those are quite delicate but don't usually break in this brand. It's the first time ever it's happened with Knit Picks and I've had their wooden straight and double pointed needles for about 15 years. Previously I used another brand's bamboo needles but they kept bending and snapping just being in a project bag. However, on this pack one of my smallest 2mm snapped. I contacted Knitpicks and their customer service was excellent. After explaining what happened, sending a photo of how it had split on the laminated part, they offered me a replacement. I've since been knitting for many hours and it hasn't happened again. I have tried metal needles and although great they are slippery and can drop out more easily which causes havoc with detailed colourwork.So after being initially disappointed and worried about a needle snapping for the first time in 15 years of using this brand, the customer service was so good I haven't lost confidence in them. Their yarns are good too. I have 150 shades of Palette Fingering which works like a dream.So I'm happy with my new Caspian dpn set.
