Review: Great Magnifier! - I was looking for a quality magnifier with good eye relief, and this magnifier didn't disappoint. I shoot an AR10 in 308 and and was worried about getting scope bit because many magnifiers don't offer adequate eye relief. With this optic I do not worry. I was also impressed by the clarity and sturdiness. The materials used are high quality and feel well made. The glass is clear and everything stays in place. This includes the mount. The mount is similar to the way Vortex does their mount, in that it uses a button to flip the optic. My only gripe is that when assembled to flip to the right side, the button is facing forward and needs to be pressed towards the stock. This is not my preferred way to activate the mechanism but it is only slightly awkward to use, and I'm sure I will get used to it. The mount also solidly holds the optic in place in both positions, so no complaints there. Overall, I am more than pleased with this 3x magnifier. It competes with optics twice its cost and does so exceedingly well. The lenses are less prone to fogging internally with pressure, temp, and humidity changes. 2. Nitrogen is an inert gas. Any possible contaniments during manufacturing will not cause adverse degradation in the materials as oxygen would. To answer your question though. I have been hunting and target shooting with this for years. I haven't noticed any fogging of the lenses in any conditions. I live in the upper mid-west where deer hunting in Nov often involves temps in the teens and snow. I have had this thing out in negative temps all the way into the upper 90's. No issues including being used in rainy conditions. I would say for the price it is doubtful. But you never can be certain these days. I want to place a magnet below it to stop the immense wobble.** A: The same button that you "push in" to flip to the side,... turn it!!! it tightens that wobble. something else that helps is putting a drop of loctite on the mount screws. i've found that they tend to loosen after a few shots. Tacticon eventually contacted me via email and sent me a replacement unit. They didn't ask for the original to be returned, which was pleasantly surprising. I'd be happy to return it to them as I can't do anything with it, but at this price point it's probably not worth their time to repair it. The new unit is also labeled as a Falcon V1 but it looks different as shown in the new photo I've added. I'm not sure if it's a newer or older version but I think I like this design better. This unit lined up with my inexpensive Bushnell red dot almost instantly. I can see a magnified focused image through the red dot without bobbing my head like a chicken. The new unit functions as expected. I don't know how it compares to more expensive units as this is the only magnifier I've ever had, but based on the quality in relation to the price I give it five stars. Unfortunately, I have to remove one star because the communication with Tacticon over the warranty was poor. ------------------------------------------------------ Original Review: ------------------------------------------------------ I will consider changing my review if someone from Tacticon contacts me and fixes the problem as well as addressing the lack of support, but right now I have to rate this as one star. This unit was defective right out of the box. I sent them an email at their support mailbox and waited two days for a response. Nothing. Then I tried calling them. No one answers. After the fourth call on day three I left a message. The next morning I tried calling again, and still no one answered. Finally, I tried using their warranty page on their website. After going through the required process, the webpage gives me an error message and recommends trying again later. I tried again later with the same result. I like to support American companies and especially veterans, but this is some of the worst support I've seen. I suspect I will never be able to get my unit repaired or replaced. You should be prepared to toss your money in the trash if you get a defective one. The issue: I purchased this in Dec 2021 but for complex reasons I didn't get to unbox it until late this summer (2023) when I finally had a chance to attend a rifle class at the national training center (CMP). It was being finicky so I put it back in the box and focused on the rifle skills with just the red dot sight. This week (in Oct 2023) I decided to try and get it installed. No matter how I tried to align this with my red dot sight, it would not work. It's a struggle to get the magnifier to display the red dot sight image even when it looks like it's perfectly lined up externally. The red dot always appears at the top edge of the magnifier and there's no way to get it close to center. Adjusting it takes the red dot completely off the image where you can't see it. In addition, the eye relief is impossible to get right, as the image is completely black if you aren't exactly in the right spot. I've never owned a magnifier before, so I didn't know how they should behave. I finally figured out that the lenses seem to be misaligned internally. Externally, the front and rear lenses look perfect, so it has to be an internal lens that's out of alignment. The image is not round, it's "oval" and you always end up seeing part of the internal tube. This magnifier has been defective since day 1. In the photos I've included, the magnifier is lined up perfectly with my camera. The first image is with my camera zoom, the second image is 1X. It should have a round image appearing in there. Total piece of junk.
