This item contains irregular shaped and sized pieces that cannot be sold as is. Some are stubby, some are short, and some aren't straight. But so what? They work fine in my water pitcher for purifying. The pieces are whole - no worries about broken pieces and particles. The pieces may be irregular shaped and sized, but they are thin and small enough to fit any carafe. I saved money by buying this value pack instead of the 3 packs which contain "regular" shaped and sized pieces..Follow the directions and take care not to stain your clothes when you first open and treat by boiling. These help clear up your water; remove odors; make water taste better by removing unwanted flavors; and otherwise purify/treat your water by removing chemicals while adding in beneficial minerals.I use these after filtering my water for double measure and benefits.

This bincho-tan eliminate water chlorine smell, make water soft. Even tap water taste soft.

I don't need my charcoals to be the same size, so this is a great deal. They seem to purify water just fine as well.

Great value, works just like the others. Be aware there are small nubs 1" x 1" and the consistency is uneven. Some of the pieces cracked and splintered during first boiling because they aren't whole solid pieces like the regular packages.

I've been using kishu binchotan in my water for years. I put one stick in a water pitcher, and refill it every other day or so, after the pitcher is empty. One stick lasts several months; as soon as I notice the taste is a little off, I replace it with another.

I use the sticks in my 2 gallon glass water jar. I fill up every night with tap water and let it sit overnight. The difference in taste is amazing! Highly recommend!
