It will wrap around the clip solid, so when you pry you have less chance of it slipping off and damaging the trim panel. The older panels are usually cardboard, and wont take very much stress. The KD tools pliers work well with the newer plastic panels. **Q: How long is the pliers?** A: I'm not sure what you're asking the overall measurement is 9 3/8" with the tips being a max of 2 1/4 " these are strictly made for popping loose door panel clips and the like such as the old type plastic clips that hold on fender panels and such they are very sturdy and work well I myself have used a set since 1988 without any issues .
