The Fat Mexican: The Bloody Rise of the Bandidos Motorcycle Club

The Fat Mexican........A PHAT Winner!
Having read practically everything inked about motorcycle clubs, I had high expectations for this book and was NOT dissapointed. It gets right to the point, plants it's hooks in the reader and drags him/her into the seedy underworld of the outlaw biker like no other vehicle has done before. So well written that you will smell the aroma of a condemned man's sweat, feel the strength of tight family bonds and taste the terror of wondering......."will I walk away or be carried?".This is a straight on depiction of the men and woman of the biker society and includes a snapshot look at the lives of the innocent "civilians" and how these lives can be affected simply by being in close proximety to the "clubbers"Having read Out In Bad Standings by Edward "Connecticut Ed" Winterhalder, I had been primed for what is brought forth in TFM. Out in Bad Standings: Inside the Bandidos Motorcycle Club--The Making of a Worldwide Dynasty Although a degree of "artistic license" was incorporated within it's pages, the book (based on my following the court reports throughout the trial of the Shedden murder suspects)shares more truth than you will find elsewhere outside the jury box.Not a learned literary critic by any stretch, I won't ramble, but I WILL enthusiastically reccomend this book to anyone who has an interest in the outlaw motorcycle club phenomina. Of the all, this is one of the best!Read and be afraid......be VERY afraid!Swaman

Pretty good Read
This was a book that shed some interesting light on the outlaw way of life. Alex Caine is a pretty good author and maybe some of the facts are somewhat exaggerated I still found the book very interesting.

A good chronicle of Biker madness in and around but not ...
A good chronicle of Biker madness in and around but not much about fun side of being a motorcycle club or gang member and no reference to Biker women and their interaction. It's like drugs yes there is a down side but isn't there a up side? Mostly one sided from a violent and mayhem culture that is a business with consequences. I could never be a gangster or a soldier can't stand to march. Like freedom to much. Now the book has a very good glossary for about everything about Bikers clubs and gangs. Supposed to be ride to live and live to ride. Hard core living and dangerous and nasty but fat Mexican must eat good.

an excellent book
Another informative book by alex. You can't read this book and not get a really good feel for who he's talking about and why they are the most dangerous people you could ever come to know.Read this book, it's really worth it.

the fat mexican. inside the bandidos mc.
Good book and lots of insite into the bandits mc...in Canada. I was hoping to get more knowledge on the inner workings and history of the mc. This book focuses mainly on the chapters in Canada. If you are Canadian or are interested in the biker wars there, this is your book.

Perfect Service!
I have been enthralled with the subject of Outlaw Bikers since I was a youngster. This book is a helpful look into the lives of the men who choose this way of life.

Misleading Title
I've read several books on the world of OMG's (outlaw motorcycle gangs) and was looking forward to reading a history of the start and rise of the Bandidos MC since not much has been written on them and they are basically in my backyard. There is a VERY brief history of how they started towards the first of the book but as other raters have said, the book is pretty much focused on one incident and is by no means any kind of a history of the club. The title is misleading and the book probably would have been better titled as 'The Shedden Massacre: A Bloody Chapter of the Bandidos Motorcycle Club'.

fat mexican
Yeah I'd recommend it, but it is pretty stomach churning: the ordeal in the barn is frightening. A little too real for me. However, it doesn't read like anything he's written previously. I wish he'd decide if an MC is a gang or a club as the constant interchanging is a pain. When you read this, you wonder if he's had previous stuff ghosted. Tell it like it is Alex, but you can't fool us: we know you still love the Banditos.

Good coverage of a complicated situation
I have read 3 accounts of this event. This one is the most in-depth coverage of the event itself and the goings on behind the scenes that contributed to or at least might have contributed to the event. Most authors carry a personal bias into their writing, it is pretty hard not to, however this account seemed to lay the information out for the reader and allow them to draw conclusions, for the most part. The only challenge is that the story "jumps" around in time, location and characters, in order to give you all the information. I think it is mostly unavoidable, however the impact is that you have to stay on your toes to keep track of the story. Certainly an interesting read.
