Cruiser Accessories 21110 Stainless License Plate Frame, Stainless Steel

I had a California style diecast plate holder on a prior Mustang (2006) but it would not fit my new 2013 Mustang because the confined plate area in the new car and its limited clearance. I looked for a plate frame that would leave most of the plate uncovered so I could put on my annual renewal stickers on without removing the plate once a year. I ordered this one and installed it today. I purchased 4 stainless steel #14 x 1" panhead phillips screws at the local hardware store to complete the look. This item it very thin which will probably only work on the rear of the car provided you nail it down securely with all 4 screws. I live in a "rear license plate only" state and this plate frame is really more of a trim piece but it has a nice high polish..... very chrome like. One warning if you think this is some kind of rugged plate support for a front mount plate I would not use this particular frame as it will just bend along with the plate itself. However as rear mount only plate trim piece in a confined recessed area this product is the way to go and in my opinion offers a very clean finished look.

After reading some of the negative reviews of this frame, I gave it a try anyway (thanks to photos posted by R. Saha that made me think it'd be good enough). For the price, I think it's decent enough. It fits around just enough to cover the plate's edges perfectly, which makes the whole thing very low profile and elegant. And that's all I need. Compared to other "normal" (i.e. chrome plated) frames, yes it's thinner and thus, very light. But I'd bought a stainless steel frame before, with more than twice the price, and its thickness is not any better than this one (except the curled edges give just a bit more depth to the frame). I'm happy with the purchase, and I think it's fairly priced.

I like the frame a lot it is perfect. The thinner style is great as I have heard the police are cracking down on the thicker frames blocking their view. I was kind of expecting white? Probably my error and can be easily sprayed white. I have found Rust-Oleum is a fantastic spray paint product for maximum paint coverage, longevity & rust anyhow. I will run the shiny steel/chrome look for now as it seems to still look great on the front. On the back plate I bought a red reflective frame that has a shiny steel/chrome sort of outlining (also sort of thin style) and matches the tail lights perfectly and now goes well with this as a front frame. This plate frame is fine, just sharp edges which need to be filed down before it is handled. It is nothing special, but serves the purpose.

I was looking for a license plate cover that would not obstruct any of the writing on standard license plates. I live in TX which requires both a front and rear plate. So I ordered 2 of these. The plates arrived and are very thin (which I was expecting). One thing to be aware of is that they are so thin that they will bend VERY easily. So easy in fact I was worried that just screwing the frame on would cause it to bend. The outer edges that would meet the car are smooth but the inner edges are very sharp. I would not run my finger along it as there is potential for cutting myself. Now here's the kicker. The holes match up with the plate holes yes, but they do NOT match up with the bracket holes of the vehicle. I was able to get 3 screws in only to find that one was off so much I could not get a screw into it. I could maybe see only 1/4 of the hole. They advertise they fit standard plates, which they technically do. They do not fit the vehicle license plate brackets (I tried both). Unless the 2 I received were defective. I've thrown the packaging away so I cannot return them. I'm going to see if I can bore the holes larger without bending it, but this leads me to worry about rusting. Hopefully that will fix the fitment issue. While they are "thin" in the aspect of not hiding plate lettering (hence the 2 stars), the actual thickness of the metal is too thin and the fitment is way off. Quite a disappointing product.

Quality made and looks awesome! I also purchased a flat clear plate protector to keep the plate looking clean and free from insect damage.

Yes, this SS frame is thin, but I don't like big thick frames (I've had many, and they usually corrode and look nasty pretty quick), so I like this frame a lot. Paired with "Cruiser Accessories Tuf-Shield Clear Flat License Plate" and SS hardware bought at the hardware store makes a great looking frame which, so far after a year, has held up well.

I did not expect much after reading the reviews, but even after others stated it, I am blown away by how cheap looking this thing is. In the picture it looks more 3 dimensional, like it has some depth or thickness to it. This is the thinnest piece of metal you can imagine, and it looks more like chrome than SS. Even with my low expectations, this is a big disappointment. If you are looking for the most basic, barely cover the edge of your license plate frame than maybe this is for you, but just know this going in.Update: I just checked the picture a little closer again, and I was right, what was delivered is not at all what is pictured. Notice in the picture the contour where the mounting parts are? this is what let me to think there was at least some depth to the frame. The one I received is just a thin flat piece of metal with no shape other than a slight curve around the perimeter. For comparison I just put a dime next to the frame and the dime is thicker. If this is the style you are looking for, than you will be happy. Otherwise, just be aware of what you are ordering.

I just got this last night and installed it earlier today. I bought two, one for the back and another for the front.First, it has a polished chrome look. But it's quite thin and the edges are sharp. I was shocked that it could slice my finger open if I hold it any tighter. There was a warning on the packaging that the edges are sharp, but I was eager to open the package that I didn't even read the warning, but I didn't expect it to be that sharp. Also at the back of the packaging, there was a warning that the product and packaging contain chemicals known to the state of California to cause cancer, birth defects, or other reproductive harm. Which is scary, but it's good to be aware of it (just like what is normally noted for laptop batteries and chargers, they they may contain lead which can cause cancer). I washed my hands after all is installed and done.Anyways, I also bought the Cruiser license plate cover (76100) and the universal plate mount (79000) offline. They are all compatible with each other as they are all Cruiser products. The only thing I needed to add were the screws to fit the screw receptacle on the car. There were already screws from the previous license plate frame, but I wanted the screws to be stainless steel. I bought stainless screws of the same length and diameter. Prior to install, I sanded the edges of the license plate frame to reduce the sharpness. It helped a bit, but if Cruiser already knew that the edges were sharp, why not sand it at the factory before they got to the customers, so the customers won't get any accidental cut from the sharp edges?So now that I installed them, they look really nice. It remains to be seen if they will last the Canadian winter, with salt and ice. So far, in the reviews, nobody complained that they rust or stain So let's hope that's the case for mine. I will come back to review again if it rusts. For now, I rate it 4 stars, as it looks shiny, and price was decent. But could be 5 stars if the edges are not as sharp.

Perfect fit, doesn't block any writings on the licence plate. I added 4 chrome caps for the screws and the look is great.

Good product for the money but thought it would be a little thicker material.
