I'm a 1st grade teacher and I have never written a review on Amazon before. Bought MANY things before but never written a review. That should speak volumes. This book is AmAZing! Teaching number sense using a hundreds chart! I'm on page 13 and the lessons are kid friendly, shows how to differentiate for your lows and highs. Great for K-2nd grade. Highly highly recommend this Math book! I also recommend you buy the 100s chart too! Goes great with the book! It also teaches you how to use it for centers for students. If you don't purchase it, the book gives ways to use an interactive board too but I think using both interchangeably would be ideal! Happy summer and happy teaching! Hope this helps!

    Maximize the Hundreds Chart

I have always referenced the hundreds chart in my teaching. In fact, I've made sure to choose name cards for each desk that include the hundreds chart. However, I'm not sure if my classes have ever really used the hundreds chart. If we have, we've utilized it in the most basic ways.This book is a tremendous resource to easily determine how to engage your students in using their hundreds chart. After using just a couple of the lessons and games, my students began to discuss the patterns they saw in the chart. Concepts such as place value seemed to evolve in their minds naturally.I was disappointed the book did not contain routines like the "It Makes Sense! Ten Frames" book. This book is focused on lessons and games which usually take between 15-20 minutes. If you're looking to accelerate number sense and maximize the hundreds chart, this is a fabulous book to purchase.
