Disc 1 - Creature From the Black Lagoon Review: Fine, family fun! - I love this film. Old timey horror flick with goopy monsters, screaming & screechings. I saw it @ a triple feature ! The Drive -in. My friends & I ordered pizzas, (Drive ins offered food & soda: CONCESSIONS: they called it!!) and we settled in for a triple film night of (1950's) Sci-fi horror films!!!. Great fun! This food was far & away much, much better than fast foods of 2025! Cheaper too! Way cheaper! The Creature from...was scary in his own right! Untamed, wild & pointy- screaming thing that he was! Big lizardy paws, long (unpainted nor polished) nails, & shreiking all the time. He is not ugly, just misunderstood. Perhaps some time @ the Drive- ins Concession stand would have done him some good? He certainly could have filled his tummy up there instead of eating frogs & such swamp nonsense. Highly recommended. Fine, family fun! Review: Has correct 3D for “Revenge of” movie - Phew! 5 stars bc I got what I wanted. Took a “risk” and ordered Creature From the Black Lagoon: Complete Legacy Collection [Blu-ray], which in a total of 2 discs, has 3 movies in 2D and 2 movies in 3D. I’ll leave out the 2D issue others have stated and focus on the 3D for “Revenge of.” It’s normal 3D you’d expect to run on your 3D TV w 3D glasses and 3D player. It’s NOT side by side 3D as originally released which was problematic and spurred a disc replacement program. I say “risk” bc of this had that version I don’t know if the studio would have any replacement discs left. I only checked this disc by watching for 10 mins. Have to dig in menu to find 3D version. It’s not 5 star quality, more like 2 star, but I knew that and am just ecstatic to have this in my collection. 3D artifacts I see is ghosting of an image. So where there’s an oar while they’re looking for the Creature, there’s a second faint oar near it. Seems most noticeable w bright objects in scene. Tried these things to mitigate: lower brightness of glasses, lowered contrast of TV, adjusted depth of glasses. All settings in TV. Sony 65” Z9D 4K 3D TV, Sony X700 region free 4K 3D player, Sony glasses that came w TV. Haven’t tried this movie w Panasonic UB820 or UB9000. The 9000 is paired w a 75” version of TV above and I’m looking forward to snuggling up to watch both in 3D. The third movie is 2D only. Thank you to all who helped piece this together for me. Hope this helps. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ UPDATED Review after Universal corrected the defective disc. *by M***R on August 31, 2018* December 6 2018 UPDATE: I received my replacement from Universal as of today. According to the padded envelope it was mailed out on the 30th of November. I haven't had a chance to watch all of it but I did scan it and compared it with the previous disc and I concur with the previous pot posted on the Home Theater Forum that the 2D version of Creature Walks among us is not the same as the previous. Yes it is still a very soft picture and does look more like DVD quality but from what I have read from the company that did the restoration on Creature Walks Among Us is that Revenge of the Creature had lots and lots of dupes utilized in its creation and that there is not as much original negative available as there was for Creature Walks Among Us. I assume that this is the best possible source that they had to use and this is as good as it is gonna get. I am not disappointed with it. Wish it could look as good as the other two but if this is all they had to work with I am just glad to have it finally in hi def now. Given that information I am going to move my rating to 5 stars. September 4 2018 UPDSTE: I tried to email Universal via their web site but every time I hit send I would get an error page. So, I sent them a message through Facebook asking if they were looking into the issue and asked if there would be a replacement program. As soon as I hear back from them, if I hear back from them, I will post what I find out. I encourage every one here to do the same. If you do send them a message be sure to be polite :). If you are expecting a high def copy of Revenge of the Creature in 2D, it isn't in this set and that is for sure. I won't elaborate on the 3D version because I do not have a 3D player or a 3D TV. The 3D is useless for me . BUT I am highly disappointed in the 2D version. As has been previously stated the picture is soft. Defiantly not Blu Ray presentation. I would compare it to a high grade SD version, but not a HD Blu Ray version. In my opinion my standard DVD has just as good of a copy as the "Blu Ray". I work very hard for my money and when I buy a Blu Ray I expect HD. The Creature Walks Among Us looks amazing. Universal really does need to go back and reissue this Blu Ray with a HD copy of Revenge of the Creature in 2D. When/if they do, I will re-buy the set.
