Gets the job done!
I installed this myself which is saying something considering I’m a 50 year old woman. The digging was made much easier after I used a 36” auger drill attachment to loosen the soil. I dug the hole with a post hole digger, put some drainage rocks in the bottom of the hole and set the dooly flush with the ground. Only problem I had was due to the soil where I live, it’s mostly sand and the hole kept caving in so I sunk a 8 inch drain pipe with holes drilled through sides down into the hole to shore up the walls. Next I added the water and the tablets that came with the product and it’s been working ever since! I haven’t had any problems with odor and each time I add a fresh pile of dog poop the previous one isn’t there. The product seems sturdy enough to do its job. I’m debating on moving it to a new location closer to my garden hose because it needs water to work properly and I believe it will hold up well if I do move itPretty cool product. I keep my garbage can in my garage and it doesn’t smell like dog crap since I started using this. I have one large golden retriever but she has friends over often who like to poop here so I use the product a lot.Hope this helps anyone who is on the fence deciding if they want to buy this, I’m glad I did!

Goodbye repulsive trash can!
The Dooley has been in the ground now for a couple weeks and I’m really pleased with the results so far. The material for the chamber walls is outdoors plastic and really pliable so left me curious if it would hold up. After installed the top of the chamber is extremely solid and rigid considering. Probably best practice to not walk directly on top of it but no doubts at all it will hold up the soil and mulch on top of it.I probably reduced some of the odor management by inserting a short 2ft pipe at the top. I wanted to ensure the hole wouldn’t cave in. Deeper than that it’s very much clay and I had to use a heavy pike to break through it.I did dig as deep as possible, the 6” hole is over 4 ft deep. The Dooley holds the water for a good 6 days. When it dried up I was really surprised to see No turds. The bacteria ate it all and left only a sock my dog had eaten. So far so good. I’ll add an update if anything worth knowing comes up.Update: After two very hot summer months I have to say this thing has absolutely delivered. It was a lot of work to install and maybe a tad pricey considering volume of materials BUT worth every freaking penny and drop of sweat. No smell. None. We put it in a flower bed by the back porch for convenience and it’s been a good decision. With the addition of a poop scoop that “grabs” the poop it’s a very easy job now and the trash can doesn’t smell or attract those hordes of flies like it did when we were putting the poop bags in the trash. This is a no-brainer folks; if you can handle a little digging you will not be sorry.

Great. With caveats.
Overall we love it for the ability to clean up fast and without having to use a bag or something as a middle man but it loses a star because the top cracked within the first few months and eventually shattered. So if your dogs are large dogs (we have an almost 100lb Doberman):1. Make sure the placement is in an area they won't step on it much. Also probably in an area you don't need to mow/ can trim around easily by hand.2. If you have clay soil it might not work. It didn't work too well for us at first but over time it's breaking down faster/better.3. Using your own (natural) septic enzymes can increase the speed of the process. Vs the tiny tablets they provide.

It works, design is meh
Small yard. Tired of bagging waste for the garbage and didn’t see the point. This works similar to a septic tank or old fashioned out house disposal. It’s great they include the enzyme packs and it isn’t hard to install. I’m lucky to have one of those electric augers. That made it a breeze to install. I have to say that I think it’s pretty flimsy in design. The thing is pretty thin plastic and it straddles the hole. It would have been much better to have been made of a thicker material or just one that wouldn’t crack easy. It would also have been nice to have attached a pipe that would have sat below ground a bit. Over watering one has already collapsed the sides. If it had a pipe extension into the ground, I doubt that would have happened. I do not expect the plastic to last long. Someone is going to step on it or weather is going to degrade it and I will have to look for another solution. It certainly has me thinking of a better one.

Seems to Work - Cheap Build Quality
Pros:I guess it works. I dug my hole, installed and backfilled. After routinely placing dog doo in the disposal for about a week, I noticed it was staring to fill up. But then, a miracle happened, it leveled off. It's currently about 2/3's full and that's about where it stays. So, my guess is the little poo eating microbes needed a little while to get going and are now doing my dirty work.I don't keep it filled with water all the time, that's a ridiculous expectation. But I do try to give it a good soaking about once a week. That seems to be working.Cons:As others have mentioned, the hole required is quite deep. Four feet below the bottom of the 16" deep Dooley. I bought the cheapest post-hole digger HD had and went to task. Luckily, where I live the soil is relatively soft. But If I were back in AZ, it would have been a nightmare. The build quality is quite terrible. It's extremely thin plastic. I had little faith in it's ability to retain soil on its own, so when I backfilled, I mixed in a little portland cement with the dirt to help shore things up.I also think it's pretty shady the company posts a diagram that's intentionally mis-scaled. In the product pics, both the 48 and 16" holes appear the same depth.***My Rating Criteria***Build Quality(47.5%) - 3.0 StarsEfficacy(47.5%) - 3.0 StarsPost-Sale Support(0.0%) - n/aPackaging/Presentation(5.0%) - 5.0 StarsWEIGHTED AVERAGE(100.0%) - 3.1 STARS
