They have a good purpose.
It was recommended to not expose these straps to direct sunlight because of the gel. That can be hard to do since I will use them on my bike, when mounted on the bike rack at the rear of my vehicle.

Additional security
I use these straps along with the regular rubber hold downs to insure the bikes are snug on the back rack. They provide an additional piece of mind especially on long trips since the bike rack is attached to the back of the camper van and I can only see the top of the handle bars from the rear window mirror.

Great quality
Got these as replacement for the straps on bike carrier that were crappy. These are much better, hold well and weather hasn't aged them, as I have had them for a while now, and am just reviewing. I might get some more as they would be useful for other things. Fully satisfied with them, and I'm pretty picky.

Muy útil para fijar la llanta delantera de la MTB.
Yo compré esta banda para fijar la llanta delantera antes de meter la MTB a la casa pues la dejó en una zotehuela al fondo y debo cruzar sala, comedor y una recámara antes de llegar al lugar donde la cuelgo. Esto me evita que ensucie las paredes o me atore en el camino con algún mueble. Ha sido un éxito este accesorio.
