Performance, Stability, Dynamics, and Control of Airplanes, Third Edition (AIAA Education Series)

This textbook is awful. It is probably the worst textbook I had in college. It is a giant mess. Each chapter had hundreds of equations poorly laid out, with no good way of finding the equation one needs. This book uses the same variable to denote multiple things. (For example, Cl is either coefficient of lift in infinite wing theory or the coefficient of the rolling moment). The graphs are hard to read. It also does not fully give all the equations necessary. To complete all the equations of control, you have to do derivations yourself. To top it off, the derivation for equation 3.70 is incorrect, leading to an incorrect equation. The fact that AIAA has put their name on it shows that the editorial board has not done their job.

Equations, equations, equations; chapters 3 and 4 are a nightmare. The material is presented well enough in most cases, but I feel it's not ideal on into the control portions.

Quite possibly the worst text book I have ever come across. Contradictory definitions for the same variable, poorly defined equations, incorrect equations, no derivations to back out meaning. The author should pay back every student who has wasted money on this trash.

AIAA standard reference full of data and evaluation tools. Only for advanced students.

A proper, almost brand new book.
