I was custom building my tegu's cage and I needed heat guards for my heat bulbs.These cages work perfectly and fit around the larger-than-usual bulbs that I use. I highly recommend these.

Great item.

I put this in my Mexican black kingsnake’s PVC enclosure to protect him from burning himself on the bulb. I saw him wrapping around the heat cage for a short while on some nights and didn’t think anything of it.I got him out a few nights later and saw he had quite a few scrapes and cuts going down one side of his ventral scales. When I felt along the heat cage, there were several very sharp edges and sharp wires protruding. Enough to scrape and cut up his scales, which could lead to infection. I immediately took that cage out and put in the Arcadia Heat Lamp Cage… unfortunately I can’t find it available on Amazon, had to buy it elsewhere.

I bought five and they were all the same size. They worked great for shielding a heat lamp inside an outdoor cat enclosure. The guard fits over a standard light fixture. I use a shallow electrical box and a porcelain light fixture. Of the five only one had slight bits of rust on it where the paint had chipped away. Not a big problem.

Product was as described, fit over my CHE just fine!

When you recieve this cage make sure to check it over really well, there were some areas around the edges and where the seam on the cage meets that were jaged and sharp. I was able to use small pliers to turn all of the sharp pieces to face inside of the cage, however had I not checked extra well my python could have been cut on it. Other than that the cage works fine, but considering that this cage is made for animals that will climb on it (to keep them from touching the bulb) i consider that a MAJOR flaw.

If your using for reptiles that require higher heat you should keep in mind that a 150w bulb barely fits and the cage still gets just as hot as the bulb will burn animal if they rest against it but it's more for keeping them off the bulb an prevent it from breaking. Mesh is small enough if buld burst the cage will catch mostly all the glass

I have no idea how this metal cage is suppose to keep my snake or lizard from being burned by a che. It's made of metal and it gets just as hot as the heat emitter does, just all around the light instead of just the bulb.

They say its 5.1 inches large but the cage is actually less than 4.75 inches. does not fit my bulb, returning.
